Since 1985, every four years an international jury consisting of designers and architects has been awarding a prize for railway design (buildings and vehicles) – the Brunel Award. A number of properties belonging to Swiss Federal Railway have won a Brunel Award or distinction of the jury ("Commendation") in those years.

For the 11th Brunel Awards 2011, the jury has distinguished the following four SBB projects with a Brunel Commendation:
