Chur station.
Conversion of station building, redesign of station district.
Even with its ongoing operational modifications, the Chur station with its neo-Renaissance station building was not able to meet the increased traffic volume of SBB and Rhaetian Railway. In 2000, by way of a competition, a solution was finally found to the complex questions regarding the urban development, traffic planning and architecture.
The platform facilities of both railways were logically arranged, the tracks were connected with a generous underpass and the station building was complemented by an elongated architecturally minimally designed building, thereby newly arranging the station forecourt. The 1878 station building was carefully renovated and now offers various shops and a restaurant court.
