Constructing the future of Switzerland's clients.
SBB operates the most heavily frequented rail network in the world. Given its intensive use, this network requires maintenance and renewal, as a fully operational railway infrastructure is essential for safe and punctual rail traffic. At the same time, SBB is expanding the rail network where necessary in cooperation with the Swiss Federal government and the cantons. The aim is to increase capacity, comfort and to create faster and more punctual connections.
To meet these requirements, SBB is already planning tomorrow's rail network. Around 4,500 construction projects are currently underway – either in the study, preliminary engineering project or construction phase. About 500 to 600 of these are completed every year.
