Overview of offers.

SBB InfoPoint at Zurich main station.

More than 35 trains run daily from Switzerland to all the major cities of Germany. On the high-speed lines, you can travel to your destination on InterCityExpress (ICE) trains at up to 300 kilometres per hour.

 

Depending on the precise build of each train, InterCityExpress (ICE) trains offer:

  • Business compartments.
  • Seat-side power supply for laptops.
  • Mother and child compartments.
  • Bistro or dining cars, at-seat meals in 1st class, refreshment trolleys.
  • Some ICE trains have a lounge compartment directly behind the engine driver, so you can enjoy a spectacular view of the line ahead. Seat reservations recommended.

Daytime connections.

From Basel SBB.

  • Daily direct ICE connections: Basel SBB–Frankfurt a. M. Flughafen–Cologne (–Dortmund).
  • One ICE connection a day: Basel–Cologne–Amsterdam.
  • Daily direct ICE connections: Basel SBB–Frankfurt a. M.–Berlin.
  • Daily direct ICE connections: Basel SBB–Frankfurt a. M.–Hamburg (–Kiel). 
  • Daily direct EC connections: Basel SBB–Mannheim–Dortmund–Hamburg.
  • All trains with dining or bistro cars.


From Zurich HB.

  • Up to 6 direct ICE connections a day to Frankfurt (–Hamburg–Kiel) with with dining and bistro car.
  • Two direct EC connections a day to Mannheim–Cologne-Dortmund–Hamburg.
  • Seven direct IC connections to Stuttgart a day, with refreshment trolley.
  • Four direct EC connections to Munich a day, with dining car, refreshment trolley, business zone, Family Coach and self-service loading of bicycles.


From Interlaken Ost - Berne.

  • 5 direct ICE connections a day to Frankfurt (–Berlin) with with dining and bistro car.


Night connections.

One City Night Line connection per night to the following destinations via Basel SBB:

  • Zurich main station–Berlin
  • Zurich main station–Leipzig–Dresden (–Prague)
  • Basel SBB–Flensburg–Copenhagen
  • Zurich main station–Hannover–Hamburg
  • Zurich main station–Cologne (–Amsterdam)

Inclusive charge per vehicle:CHF 60.00
Cancellations:Up to 50% of fare (incl. sleeping car or couchette berth) will be charged, depending on when you change or cancel your booking. We recommend taking out cancellation insurance.
Elvia travel insurance:for CHF 10,000.00: CHF 16.00. Every additional CHF 1,000.00 of cover costs CHF 1.60. Maximum cover: CHF 30,000.00. This travel insurance covers a single journey.
Reservations and booking:Please book your car space and make the appropriate reservations at your local station or with Rail Service on 0900 300 300 (calls charged at CHF 1.19/min. from the Swiss fixed-line network). Timetables and other information are also available

Fare conditions.

Supersaver Ticket Europe.

The Supersaver Ticket Europe is valid for a single journey from most train stations in Switzerland to Germany (and vice versa). Supersaver Tickets are available in limited quantities and are only valid for the booked train.

  • Advance booking: You must buy your ticket at least three days before departure.
  • Ticket only valid in chosen train.
  • Only valid on the selected train.
  • Available for 1st and 2nd class.
  • No additional discounts, including for holders of a Half-Fare or GA travelcard.
  • No exchanges, no refunds.
  • Only a limited number of tickets is available.
  • Available at SBB Ticket Shop, at staffed ticket counters (plus any fees when purchasing at the counter) or from Rail Service 0900 300 300 (CHF 1.19/min. from the Swiss fixed-line network). Limited availability.

Discount on TEE standard fares.

  • If you have a Half-Fare or GA travelcard, you pay 25% less for the German part of the journey. Usual discounts apply to the Swiss part.
  • Children under 16 travelling on their own pay half price.
  • Children under 16 travelling with a parent, grandparent or their spouse or life-partner travel free of charge (proof required).
  • Discounts available for groups of six or more.

Reservations and supplements.

  • Seat reservations are booked and paid separately.

Important.

  • All these discounts only apply if you are buying cross-border tickets.
  • Minimum distance in Germany: 60 km.
