The Aargauer Kunsthaus presents Swiss art in its full diversity. With its programme of exhibitions and its outstanding collection of Swiss art from the 18th century to the present day, it is among the most important art museums in Switzerland.
Every year, the Aargauer Kunsthaus presents around ten special exhibitions of national and international importance. These present a particular focus on contemporary art. With its extensive and innovative art education programmes, the Aargauer Kunsthaus encourages access to creative arts and provides scope for lively and stimulating debate. Built in 1959, the Aargauer Kunsthaus was re-opened in 2003 with the unique extension designed by renowned architects Herzog & de Meuron along with artist Rémy Zaugg. It now offers 3000 m2 of exhibition space.
