Fondation Beyeler, Riehen/Basel.
Discover masterpieces of Classic Modernism from Cézanne, van Gogh, Klee, Miró and Picasso through to Warhol and Rothko at the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen near Basel. You too can visit one of the most renowned private art collections.
In 2012 the Fondation Beyeler opened the “Calder Gallery”, a project developed over several years with the Calder Foundation in New York. Works from Alexander Calder will be shown in a series of curated presentations.
Up until 26 May 2013, the Fondation Beyeler will be showing a comprehensive exhibition of Hodler’s late work, the first Swiss gallery to do so. It is in these later creative years that his international significance in the world of modern art comes to the fore. Ferdinand Hodler, who, more than any other artist, expressed the image and the self-perception of Switzerland through his paintings, was also one of the most important artists in the transition from the 19th century to modernism.
