Lost property service – lost and found.

Have you lost something on the train or at the station? We may well find it again quickly or an honest finder may leave it with us. Report it immediately online and we’ll contact you as soon as we’ve found your lost property.

If the long-distance service where you think your property may be is still running, you can place a search request via telephone or at the counter.

Reporting a loss

Reporting a loss via the Internet costs you nothing. However, if you report a loss to Rail Service (0900 300 300 CHF 1.19/min. from the Swiss landlines) or at a ticket counter, you will be charged CHF 15 for this service.

Please complete the online form with all the information you have on the lost item: bag/container (plastic bag, rucksack etc.), an exact description of the article concerned, the precise contents of suitcases and bags etc., the date of the loss, and the train number and route.

If the loss occurred on a train to Germany, you should submit a lost property report to Deutsche Bahn as well.

If we’ve found your property we will tell you by email or telephone, where and when you will be able to retrieve it.

Successful extension of Switzerland’s central lost property service.

Not only SBB but also cantons and communes with a total population of 2,9 m people use the electronic lost and found facility ”Swiss Lost Property Service”. With the Canton of Fribourg, the first French-speaking canton has now joined as well. Find all the participating cantons, cities and communes on Swiss Lost Property Service Map.

Search request

If you lose something important or valuable on a long-distance SBB train (with a train crew) and the train will be travelling for at least 30 minutes before reaching its final destination or at a staffed station, we advise you to submit a search request (by telephone using your credit card, or at the counter subject to a fee of CHF 50).

We will inform you of the result of the search carried out within four hours. If the item is found, a reclaim fee will be charged.


If we find the item you have lost, you pay a reclaim fee as follows

With a GA travelcardCHF 5 per item
With a Half-Fare travelcardCHF 10 per item
With a personal annual point-to-point season ticket or regional travel system passCHF 10 per item
With none of the aboveCHF 20 per item
Despatch to an address outside SwitzerlandCHF 50 per item plus shipping costs
Switch to a different collection station following notificationCHF 10 per item

Sale of unclaimed items

Once the period required by law has expired, unclaimed items are forwarded to the GmbH company for sale by public auction. Information on the sale of lost property and upcoming auctions can be found at
