A bicycle carried by SBB within Switzerland is automatically insured for CHF 1,000. This can be increased to a maximum of CHF 10,000. In the event of a claim, Elvia pays out what the bicycle was worth on the day it was lost in accordance with current liability provisions, i.e. the purchase price (no reduction) within a year of purchase, purchase price less 20% in the second year.
