Buying tickets

MMS Ticket terms and conditions.

Product.

MMS Tickets are available between the following 40 towns and cities in Switzerland:

Aarau, Aigle, Baden, Basel, Bellinzona, Bern, Biel/Bienne, Brig, Brugg, Chiasso, Chur, Delémont, Fribourg, Genève, Genève Aéroport, Interlaken Ost, Lausanne, Lenzburg, Locarno, Lugano, Luzern, Martigny, Montreux, Neuchâtel, Nyon, Olten, Sierre, Sion, Solothurn, Schaffhausen, St. Gallen, Thun, Vevey, Wil, Winterthur, Yverdon, Zofingen, Zug, Zürich HB, Zürich Flughafen.

Proof of identity.

MMS Tickets are personal and non-transferable. They may only be used in conjunction with an official, up-to-date identity document (passport, ID card, driving licence or Half-Fare travelcard) bearing the passenger’s name. You must show this ID to the inspector together with your ticket. If you have purchased a ticket at reduced fare, you must always present the relevant travelcard (e.g. Half-Fare travelcard, Track 7 travelcard, etc).

Period of validity.

MMS Tickets are valid for the following periods:

  • Single tickets: 1 day
  • Return tickets up to 115 km: 1 day
  • Return tickets from 116 km: 10 days

NB: You must specify your travel dates when you purchase your ticket. MMS Tickets can be purchased no earlier than 30 days before travel. Validity periods for MMS Tickets may differ from those of tickets bought from a ticket office or ticket machine.

Inspection.

When the ticket inspector comes round, you must present your mobile phone with the valid MMS Ticket for inspection. If you cannot present a valid MMS Ticket for inspection, you will have to buy a ticket on the spot. In this case, you will be deemed to be travelling without a valid ticket and be charged a supplement.

An MMS Ticket may only be used in conjunction with an official, up-to-date identity document (passport, ID card, driving licence or Half-Fare travelcard) bearing the customer’s name. This ID must be shown to the inspector together with your ticket.

If your MMS Ticket cannot be checked because your mobile phone is not working properly (e.g. if the battery is flat) or the display is illegible (e.g. badly scratched), you will be deemed to be travelling without a valid ticket.

Dogs.

MMS Tickets cannot be purchased for dogs.

Exchanges, refunds, returns.

MMS Tickets can only be refunded in the following cases:

  • Proven inability to travel (illness, accident or death)
  • No seats available in 1st class (endorsed by train staff)
  • Where the passenger has forgotten their GA travelcard, Half-Fare travelcard or point-to-point travelpass*
  • Multiple purchase of MMS Tickets(travel date, route and passenger – surname, first name and date of birth – are identical)
  • MMS Tickets with incorrect personal details (surname, first name or date of birth, provided this is an obvious input error).
  • MMS Tickets with an incorrect date, provided it was no longer possible to make the journey to the destination on this day according to the timetable. Example: the MMS Ticket is purchased at 11.40 p.m. for the same day, but the last train connection to the selected destination left at 11.30 p.m. The journey to the destination is therefore no longer possible on the date selected.
For the refund to be made, you must be able to show a new, correctly purchased ticket.
  • Where you have purchased a 1-day travelpass without a Half-Fare travelcard or an OnlineTicket / MobileTicket at the full rather than reduced price.
  • When you subsequently buy a personal travelcard for a minimum of 12 months.
  • When you make a reconnaissance trip as part of a group journey.

If you have purchased an OnlineTicket and not used it because of one of the conditions above, please complete the application for a refund online. An administration fee is charged for refunds.

* Please also state your customer number or the Basic Card no. of the travelcard you forgot.
