Using a 2nd class ticket or 1-day travelpass in 1st class.

If you have a 2nd class ticket or 1-day travelpass, you can travel 1st class on one route or for one day with a class upgrade.

Class upgrade for a specific route.

You can always decide spontaneously whether you would like to travel in 1st class, by purchasing a route-specific class upgrade online in the SBB Ticket Shop, using your smartphone with SBB Mobile, at the ticket machine or counter. For the class upgrade you will need a ticket, a 1-day travelpass or a GA travelcard for 2nd class.

Route-specific class upgrades are available at full or half price. Children aged 6 to 16 years and passengers with a Half-Fare travelcard, a 1-day travelpass for the Half-Fare travelcard, a municipal 1-day travelpass or a 2nd class GA travelcard can obtain a class upgrade at half price, and those travelling at full fare can buy one at full price.

Class upgrade for 1 day.

By purchasing a 1-day class upgrade, you can turn your 2nd class 1-day travelpass into a 1st class travelpass. The same applies if you only travel after 9 a.m. during the week, whereby the weekday class upgrade from 9 a.m. applies.
