Whether you need a 1-day travelpass or a multiple journey ticket, a single ticket or a travelcard – the fare network Arcobaleno has the right product for all your mobility needs.
Twelve transport companies in the canton of Ticino as well as in the Misox and Calancatal (Moesano) regions are combined in the fare network Arcobaleno. The same simple fare system applies across the entire network area. So you can now cover all your travels on public transport with one single ticket.
Some major changes are being introduced to regional traffic in Ticino as of 10 June 2018, with the S40 line being extended to Malpensa Airport.
S40 line.
The S40 Varese–Mendrisio–Como line will now run from Varese to Malpensa Airport 18 times a day, stopping at Terminals 1 and 2.
There will be trains to Malpensa Airport every two hours from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Passengers can travel from Como, Chiasso and Mendrisio without changing trains, while those coming from Bellinzona and Lugano have to change once.
Changes to the S30 line.
The extension of the S40 line to Malpensa Airport means that, from 10 June 2018, the S30 line will only run as far as Gallarate, where passengers for Malpensa Airport will change to the S40.
Further changes.
There will be alterations to some services between 28 May and 6 July 2018 inclusive.
The S10 scheduled to depart Bellinzona at 16:43 will start in Lugano.
The S20 departing Airolo at 06:48 will only run as far as Bellinzona.
A new RE service will begin operating from 10 June, departing Chiasso at 20:07 and arriving at Milano Centrale at 20:50.
From 16 July, the 13:10 RE service from Milano Centrale will be extended to Lugano.
Please check the times for your trains before you travel, as there may be slight changes to times on all lines.
The zone system applies for all tickets in the entire Arcobaleno network area. The zone plan shows you how many adjoining zones (areas) you must pay for to go from A to B.
Irrespective of whether you are travelling by train, bus, ship (on selected ship routes and for travel cards only) or funicular – all types of public transport are included in the price of the zones you have paid for within the period of validity.
You can purchase Arcobaleno tickets in the SBB Ticket Shop, via SBB Mobile, at any staffed SBB counter in the fare network or from a ticket machine. If you have any questions or you wish to purchase a travelcard, please do not hesitate to call the Businesstravel Service Center on +41 (0)848 111 456 (local rate) or your customer consultant.
Travel anywhere with a Half-Fare travelcard.
If you have a Half-Fare travelcard you’ll benefit from reduced prices on individual- and group tickets as well as on multiple journey tickets and 1-day travelpasses.
Outside the network area.
For journeys beyond the borders of the network, network tickets are only valid up to the last timetabled stop within the zones purchased. The network tickets are not valid in SBB trains that do not stop in the zones paid for.
