• Historic Niesen Railway from 1910.

The Niesen (altitude 2,362 m) is one of the most well-known peaks in the Bernese Oberland, not least due to its iconic pyramid shape and its superb location high above Lake Thun. Other attractions: the longest set of steps in the world with 11,674 steps.

You reach Mülenen directly with the BLS “Lötschberger” train from Bern in just 40 minutes. From the valley station at an altitude of 693 m, the funicular takes you up to the Kulm mountain station at 2,336 m in 30 minutes. Arriving at the top, the summit platform offers you either a 360° panoramic view of the Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau and the entire Bernese Alps as far as Jura, or a mystical cloudy atmosphere.
