To the timetable

In the Middle Ages, Schaffhausen was an important centre of trade and the wealth of bygone times continues to shape the city to this day, thanks to the Renaissance facades, decorative rococo stuccos and 171 oriels.

The extensive old town at the foot of the Munot fortress is almost entirely pedestrianised and is a great place for relaxed strolls with its many little boutiques and shops. If you’re more of a culture vulture, visit the Romanesque Kloster Allerheiligen (All Saints’ Abbey) with a well furnished museum on the region’s cultural history and an imposing Romanesque pillared basilica from the 11th century.
