Alpine cattle descents, living traditions in the nature park Gruyère Pays-d’Enhaut.
For centuries, Switzerland’s cattle herds have come down from their Alpine pastures every autumn.
At the Gruyère Pays-d’Enhaut nature reserve, this tradition has evolved into the “désalpes”, a celebration featuring village fairs, the herds decorated in bright colours parading through the villages, a craft market boasting famous cheeses (Gruyère, L’Etivaz, etc.) and other local produce as well as traditional entertainment. And all of this in a welcoming and convivial atmosphere!
