In collaboration with the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Fondation Pierre Gianadda presents a retrospective on the artist Pierre Soulages.

Born in Rodez in 1919, he has been interested in light since his early childhood. Early on he adopted a mode of abstraction marked by austere refinement and eloquent silence. His choice of materials is often surprising, such as walnut stain on paper. He is celebrated as “the painter of black”, but a black that represents life.
