The journey on the Gotthard Panorama Express takes travellers from Lucerne by boat to Flüelen and onwards by train on a 1st class panorama coach on the historical Gotthard panoramic route to Ticino.
In Lucerne you first board a steamboat or motorboat boat trip and glide over Lake Lucerne, past mystical bays and picturesque landscapes, all while savouring culinary delicacies. You will pass countless locations steeped in Swiss history – most notably the Rütli meadow, where Switzerland was founded in 1291, as well as the Schiller Stone and Tell’s Chapel.
In Flüelen, the panorama train will be waiting to depart on a journey along the historical Gotthard route. Here you have three different views of the Wassen church, which has become world-famous thanks to the ingenious railway system and its many helical tunnels. Passing through the Gotthard tunnel between Göschenen and Airolo, which opened in 1882, the journey continues south. Here Ticino’s varied Mediterranean landscape awaits you. The palm trees bid you welcome!
