Section signs.

The section signs divide the platform into sections. They make it easier for you to find your way around the platform.

Image legend: Example of a section sign showing the track and the section.

The signs show you in which section of the platform you are. In combination with the platform and access display boards, these show you:

  • whether you are at the beginning or end of the train
  • where you have to stand on the platform so that your wagon comes to a halt directly in front of you.

The sections vary in length, depending on the station/stop. In some cases, the section signs are attached to the platform accesses (stairs, escalators, ramps) so that you can see which access leads to which section.
