The new “Gottardo 2016” watch collection from Mondaine.

As part of a special partnership to commemorate the opening of the Gotthard Base Tunnel, Mondaine and SBB developed the exceptional “Gottardo 2016” watch collection.

The beautifully designed timepieces are inspired by the legendary Swiss “Ae 6/6” locomotives and of course by the SBB station clock. With one of these watches on your wrist, you will become part of this landmark project: the world’s longest railway tunnel.

Limited edition: the “Gottardo 2016” model.

First introduced in 1952, 120 “Ae 6/6” Gotthard locomotives transported thousands of people and tonnes of goods through Switzerland. The grand old lady will no longer make its way through the Gotthard Tunnel, but will now travel the world instead as the exclusive “Gottardo 2016” watch. Precisely 2016 bezels were stamped from the original Ae 6/6 cab doors, making each watch a unique one-of-a-kind piece.

Stainless steel case, individually numbered. Scratch-resistant sapphire glass. Precise Swiss quartz movement with a second-stop function (stop2go) like the original at railway stations. Gift packaging with certificate and information. 2 year international guarantee.

Available for CHF 750 at your railway station or from the SBB web shop.Link opens in new window.

“Gottardo North South” model.

This model symbolises the connection between north and south, which is becoming even stronger with the new Gotthard Base Tunnel. In the north, in Canton Uri, people greet each other in the local dialect with “Griäzi”; in the south, in the canton of Ticino, you would hear something very different: “Buondì”. These greetings are displayed on the leather strap as a special embossing. On the reverse side of the wristband, the coats of arms of the two cantons are depicted.

Polished stainless steel case. Slightly domed mineral glass. Original gift packaging with certificate. Swiss made, 2 year international guarantee.

Available for CHF 260 at your railway station or from the SBB web shop.
