iOS:
Using location tracking services, particularly GPS, increases battery usage. However, additional battery usage is kept to a minimum. When the app detects that the smartphone’s location is not changing, the app requests its location less frequently, saving battery power.
You can also save battery life by putting your smartphone down at work or at home instead of carrying it with you if you know that you won’t be “travelling” for a while.
We recommend that you charge your smartphone as often as you can, for example at work or in your car if possible.
MyWay has a power-saving mode which is enabled by default and can be disabled in the settings. This is mainly recommended for iPhone 5s and later iPhone models. The power-saving mode ensures that GPS requests are disabled when the phone is not moving and are not enabled again until there is a significant change of location. If the app is struggling to detect your location when power-saving mode is enabled, we recommend disabling it and closing the app when you are not travelling or charging your phone more often during the day.

Android devices automatically disable GPS services if they are stationary for a long time and enable them again automatically when you start moving. Unfortunately, this detection feature does not work reliably on some devices, so you may have to use the “GPS always on” function. This increases battery usage, so it is better to switch off tracking manually when you are not on the move.
