EuroCity – EC.

• The definitive EC service offer is subject to final agreement with Trenitalia.
  New timings from the ‘beyond Milan’ trains:
  • Bologna: departure from Bellinzona at 08:14 and arrival in Bellinzona at 17:45.
  • Venice: departure from Bellinzona at 10:14 and arrival in Bellinzona at 19:45.
  • Genoa: departure from Bellinzona at 12:14 and arrival in Bellinzona at 21:45.
• All EC trains no longer stop at Monza.
• The EC 158 departing from Milan at 10:10 and the EC 151 arriving from Frankfurt / Basel and departing from Bellinzona at 13:44 serve Milano Centrale station instead of Milano Porta Garibaldi station.

InterCity – IC.

• Introduction of a more flexible service pattern on the north-south axis:
  • Direct services from the Mendrisiotto area to Zurich are reinstated on Mondays to Fridays: Departure from Chiasso at 06:04 and 07:04.
    These connections replace the current IR departing from Chiasso at 06:04 and 07:02 and do not call at Balerna.
  • Introduction of a new train on Sundays running Bellinzona–Lucerne–Lausanne, departing from Bellinzona at 19:20. The service will run from 19 February to 4 June 2023.
    It will also be maintained in the second half of 2023 if operation is stable and punctual.
  • Introduction of three north-south trains on Fridays departing from Zurich at 14:33, 16:33 and 18:33. 
  • Introduction of a new south-north connection on Sundays from April to October 2023 departing from Lugano at 13:30.
  • The Saturday evening Zurich–Bellinzona service runs earlier: Departure from Zurich at 23:05. Runs as far as Lugano instead of just as far as Bellinzona.
  • The IC2 departing from Bellinzona on Sundays at 05:07 is cancelled. 
• The call in Altdorf is served by IC21 services (to/from Basel) instead of IC2 services (to/from Zurich).

InterRegio – IR.

The service offer remains the same as in the 2022 timetable.

TILO S30 line (Cadenazzo–Luino–Gallarate).

• The first S30 TILO service from Luino towards Cadenazzo departs at 05:43 instead of 05:18.
• From 11 December 2022 until 10 June 2023, a change of train in Luino will be required to continue towards Gallarate. Journey times remain unchanged.
• From September 2023, a new service between Gallarate and Bellinzona on Mondays to Fridays will be introduced. Departure from Gallarate at 15:17 and arrival in Bellinzona at 17:22.

TILO S90 line (Bellinzona–Giubiasco–Lugano–Mendrisio).

Due to the introduction of a more flexible long-distance service offer, the TILO S90 service arriving in Bellinzona at 18:08 and the TILO S90 service departing from Bellinzona at 18:14 will only run from/to Giubiasco on Fridays.

Work on the new station in Minusio and other improvement work on the line (Castione-Arbedo–Bellinzona–Locarno).

• From 6 January to 13 February 2023, the Tenero–Locarno section of the line will be completely closed to rail services. Replacement buses will operate between Tenero and Locarno.
• From 9 January to 15 June 2023 and from 10 September to 17 December 2023, on the nights of Sunday to Monday and Thursday to Friday, between 23:10 and 04:10, replacement buses will operate between Cadenazzo and Locarno.

Work on the Monte Ceneri / Valle del Vedeggio high-level route and refurbishment of Taverne-Torricella station.

From 9 January to 16 June 2023, infrastructure work will be carried out on the Monte Ceneri high-level route and at Taverne-Torricella station. Departures and arrivals of TILO S90 services in Taverne-Torricella, Mezzovico, Rivera-Bironico and Giubiasco as well as connections with the TILO S90 route are subject to partial modification, with differences between morning and afternoon services.

Locarno area and Valle del Vedeggio.

• Connections in Giubiasco between TILO S90 and IR SOB services are guaranteed at peak times.
• Connections in Giubiasco cannot be made at the following times and in the following directions:
  • in the morning, until midday, between IR SOB services from the Locarno areas and TILO S90 services towards Valle del Vedeggio.
  • In the afternoon, after midday, between TILO S90 services arriving from Valle del Vedeggio and IR SOB services towards the Locarno area.
• Alternatively, passengers can connect in Giubiasco between TILO S20 and S90 services.

Bellinzona area and Valle del Vedeggio.

• Connections in Giubiasco between TILO S90 and S10 services are guaranteed at peak times.
• Connections in Giubiasco cannot be made at the following times and in the following directions: 
  • In the morning, until midday, between the TILO S10 service arriving from Bellinzona and the TILO S90 service towards Valle del Vedeggio.
  • In the afternoon, after midday, between the TILO S90 service arriving from Valle del Vedeggio and the TILO S10 service towards Bellinzona.
• Alternatively, passengers can connect in Giubiasco between IR SOB and TILO S90 services.

Refurbishment work at Balerna station.

• From 11 December 2022 to 10 December 2023, infrastructure work will be carried out on the station platforms. Some TILO RE80 services which normally call at Balerna will not stop there during this period.
  Only the TILO RE80 services departing at 05:37 and 23:37 southbound and departing at 01:20 northbound will call at Balerna.
• From 5 June to 10 December 2023, from 06:00 to 20:00, on Mondays to Saturdays (except bank holidays), northbound TILO S10 services departing from Balerna at minute XX:57 and southbound services departing at minute XX:02 will not call at Balerna. Passengers for Balerna should change at Mendrisio and use the TILO S40 line.
