Timetable during works along the Genève-Aéroport–Bern route and in the Lausanne/Puidoux/Palézieux/Payerne/Romont region from Monday, 14 August to Saturday, 9 December 2023.

Certain timetables, stops and connections for long-distance services along the Genève-Aéroport–Bern route and regional services in the Lausanne/Puidoux/Palézieux/Payerne/Romont region are subject to modification from Monday, 14 August to Saturday, 9 December 2023.

These important timetable changes are necessary in order to facilitate the complete renewal of one of the two tracks between Puidoux and Palézieux over a distance of 7 kilometres. With only one track remaining in service, rail traffic in the region is severely restricted.

Departure times for InterCity 1 trains (Genève-Aéroport–Bern–Zürich HB–St-Gallen) and InterRegio 15 trains (Genève-Aéroport–Lausanne–Bern–Luzern) are scheduled earlier for trains travelling to Bern and later for trains travelling to Geneva Airport.
InterCity 1 trains call at Nyon and Morges, while InterRegio 90 trains (Genève-Aéroport–Lausanne–Brig) do not.
Departure times for the InterRegio 90 trains no longer calling at Nyon and Morges are scheduled later when travelling to Brig and earlier when travelling to Geneva Airport.
Between Genève-Aéroport and Berne, journey times are increased by around 15 minutes for Intercity 1 trains and by a maximum of 9 minutes for InterRegio 15 trains. Between Genève-Aéroport and Valais, journey times are reduced by around 14 minutes for InterRegio 90 trains.
In Lausanne, connections between InterRegio 90 trains to and from the Riviera, Chablais and Valais and InterCity 1 and InterRegio 15 trains to and from Bern are no longer possible. These journeys must be changed or delayed.

Trains on RER Vaud line S5 (Allaman–Palézieux) are replaced by buses between Puidoux and Palézieux.
Trains on line S9 (Lausanne–Kerzers) are cancelled between Lausanne and Palézieux and direct replacement buses are in operation at peak hours between Moudon and Epalinges, Croisettes (connection with the M2 metro to Lausanne).

The online timetable takes into account changes to timetables, stops and connections as well as replacement bus services.

Due to the timetable changes, connections to other SBB lines and the train or bus networks of other transport companies may be modified.

Journeys may take longer. Travel plans to the airports may need to be reviewed.

As of the annual timetable change on Sunday, 10 December 2023, the timetable that was valid until Sunday, 13 August 2023 will once again become active (subject to minor adjustments).

Travelling from Geneva Airport to St. Gallen:

When travelling from Lucerne to Geneva Airport, departure times for the following stations have been pushed back:
- Romont FR (1 minute later). Later arrival at Lausanne (1 minute later) and Genève-Aéroport (2 minutes later)
In Lausanne, connections between InterRegio 15 trains to and from Lucerne and InterRegio 90 trains (Genève-Aéroport–Lausanne–Brig) to and from the Riviera, Chablais and Valais are no longer possible. Alternative options with a connection to InterRegio 15 trains in Lausanne:

Trains twice per hour between Geneva Airport and Brig, as per the usual timetable.

First train of the hour:
The first of the two InterRegio 90 trains of the hour does not call at Nyon or Morges, as per the usual timetable.

Second train of the hour:

The second of the two InterRegio 90 trains of the hour, which usually calls at Nyon and Morges, no longer does so. Customers travelling to or from Nyon or Morges should take the InterCity 1 trains (Genève-Aéroport–Bern–Zürich HB–St-Gallen), which do stop at Nyon and Morges (see InterCity 1 section).
When travelling from Geneva Airport to Brig, departure times for the following stations have been pushed back:
- Genève-Aéroport (13 minutes later) and Genève (13 minutes later)
When travelling from Brig to Geneva Airport, departure times for the following stations have been moved forward:
- Lausanne (5 minutes earlier), Genève (14 minutes earlier). Earlier arrival at Genève-Aéroport (14 minutes earlier)
Exception: the InterRegio 90 Genève-Aéroport–Lausanne–Brig train, which usually stops at Gland (18:46), will travel between Geneva and Lausanne with no stops. The alternative option for customers travelling to or from Gland is the RegioExpress (Genève-Aéroport–)/Annemasse–Genève–Lausanne–Vevey–St-Maurice(–Sion) train.

RE (Genève-Aéroport–)/Annemasse–Genève–Lausanne–Vevey–St-Maurice(–Sion).

RegioExpress trains to or from Vevey:

When travelling from (Geneva Airport–)/Annemasse to Vevey, departure times for the following stations have been pushed back: Genève (2 minutes later), then all further stop stations (3 minutes later) up until Lausanne (1 minute later). Later arrival in Vevey (1 minute later).
When travelling from Vevey to Annemasse/(–Geneva Airport), trains are running as per the usual timetable.

RegioExpress trains to or from St Maurice:

From Monday to Friday, trains are running as per usual.
On Saturdays and Sundays, when travelling from (Geneva Airport–)/Annemasse to Vevey, departure times have been pushed back starting from Genève-Aéroport (by 2 minutes). From Geneva to St Maurice, trains are running as per usual. When travelling from St Maurice to Annemasse/(–Geneva Airport), trains are running as per the usual timetable.

Additional RE RegioExpress trains from Monday to Friday, Genève–Nyon or Genève–Gland.

The replacement bus service to Moreillon arrives around 30 minutes later than the usual train service. There is no immediate connection in Palézieux between the replacement bus service and InterRegio 15 trains (Genève-Aéroport–Lausanne–Bern–Luzern) or S8 line trains (Palézieux–Payerne(–Avenches)). The Chexbres-Village–Palézieux replacement bus services (in operation to replace the cancelled S5 line trains between Puidoux and Palézieux and S9 line trains between Lausanne and Palézieux) enable passengers travelling to or from Chexbres to connect at Puidoux with S6 line trains to or from Lausanne. Additional replacement bus services run from Monday to Friday, with no stop in Chexbres-Village: departure at 07:33 from Puidoux to Palézieux, and departure at 07:15 from Palézieux to Puidoux. At Palézieux, connections between the additional replacement bus services and InterRegio 15 trains or S8 line trains are available.
S6 RER Vaud Allaman–Palézieux(–Romont FR)	Trains between Allaman and Palézieux. There are no trains calling at Moreillon station. Passengers travelling to and from Moreillon can use the replacement bus service for the S5 line (Allaman-Palézieux). The replacement bus service to Moreillon arrives around 30 minutes later than the usual train service. The Chexbres-Village–Palézieux replacement bus services (in operation to replace the cancelled S5 line trains between Puidoux and Palézieux and S9 line trains between Lausanne and Palézieux) enable passengers travelling to or from Chexbres to connect at Puidoux with S6 line trains to or from Lausanne. Trains between Palézieux and Romont FR. When travelling from Palézieux to Romont FR, trains are running as per the usual timetable. When travelling from Romont FR to Palézieux, trains depart 9 minutes earlier from Romont FR, Vauderens and Oron stations and stop for 12 minutes at Palézieux station before continuing on to Allaman.
S7 RER Vaud Vevey–Puidoux	Trains between Vevey and Puidoux. The Chexbres-Village–Palézieux replacement bus services (in operation to replace the cancelled S5 line trains between Puidoux and Palézieux and S9 line trains between Lausanne and Palézieux) enable passengers travelling to or from Chexbres to connect at Puidoux with S6 line trains to or from Lausanne.
S8 RER Vaud Palézieux–Payerne(–Avenches)	Trains between Palézieux, Payerne and Avenches. There is no immediate connection in Palézieux between the S5 line replacement bus services and the S8 line trains. Between Lausanne and Palézieux, passengers should take the S6 line trains or the InterRegio 15 trains (Genève-Aéroport–Lausanne–Bern–Luzern). Passengers need to change trains in Palézieux.
S9 RER Vaud Lausanne–Kerzers	Cancellations between Lausanne and Palézieux. Trains between Palézieux and Kerzers. Between Lausanne and Palézieux, passengers should use other trains in operation on the route (S6 line trains or InterRegio 15 trains (Genève-Aéroport–Lausanne–Bern–Luzern)). Passengers need to change trains in Palézieux. Direct replacement bus services are available between Epalinges, Croisettes and Moudon, from Monday to Friday, during peak hours only: departures from Moudon at 06:09, 07:09 and 08:09; departures from Epalinges, Croisettes at 16:18, 17:18 and 18:18. At Epalinges, Croisettes, change to the M2 metro for travel to or from Lausanne. The Chexbres-Village–Palézieux replacement bus services (in operation to replace the cancelled S5 line trains between Puidoux and Palézieux and S9 line trains between Lausanne and Palézieux) enable passengers travelling to or from Chexbres to connect at Puidoux with S6 line trains to or from Lausanne. Please note that rail traffic between Palézieux and Moudon is completely suspended between 20:50 and 04:00 during the nights from Sunday/Monday to Thursday/ Friday from 14 August to 8 December 2023. S9 line trains are replaced by buses.

People with reduced mobility.

The rail replacement buses have low-floor access and are accessible for people with reduced mobility. We recommend that persons with reduced mobility inform the SBB Call Center Handicap on 0800 007 102 (free number) at least two hours before their planned journey. The SBB Call Center Handicap is available every day from 6am to 10.30pm.

Groups.

Groups of 10 or more people must make a reservation. You can make a reservation at sbb.ch/en/group-tickets, at the ticket office in your station or by calling the SBB Contact Center on 0848 44 6688 (CHF 0.08/min.). Depending on the route chosen, online bookings can be made up to the day before travel (until approx. 3pm). If you purchase your ticket at the ticket counter or via the SBB Contact Center, please make your reservation at least two working days before your departure (for example, if you wish to travel on Sunday, you should make your request no later than Wednesday evening).

Bicycles.

Bicycles cannot be transported on replacement buses.

Purchasing tickets.

In general, self-service validation is in place on replacement buses and trains. No tickets will be sold on board. Please buy your ticket before departure at the station, on SBB.ch or from the SBB Mobile app. Persons without a valid ticket will pay a special surcharge.

Other temporary timetable changes.

Below is a summary of the temporary timetable changes due to construction work taking place between 14 August and 9 December 2023 along the Lausanne–Bern route and in the Lausanne/Puidoux/Palézieux/Payerne/Romont region.

Traffic is restricted between Fribourg and Bern from 22:00 to 05:00 on certain nights between 27 August and 22 September 2023. In long-distance services, the timetables for the last InterCity 1 trains (Genève-Aéroport–Bern–Zürich HB–St-Gallen) and InterRegio 15 trains (Genève-Aéroport–Lausanne–Bern–Luzern) are modified. In regional services, trains on the Bern S-Bahn S1 line are cancelled between Fribourg and Flamatt. Replacement bus services are available.

Traffic is restricted between Lausanne and Fribourg from 21:50 to 05:50 on the nights of 20 to 21 September, 8 to 9 October and 12 to 13 October. In long-distance services, timetables for InterRegio 15 trains (Genève-Aéroport–Lausanne–Bern–Luzern) are modified. The InterCity 1 departing Fribourg at 21:56 and arriving in Lausanne at 22:40 is cancelled. The timetables for regional services are modified and certain regional trains are cancelled.

Traffic is restricted between Lausanne and Palézieux from 00:20 and 05:10 on the following nights:

In long-distance services, the last connections between Lausanne and Palézieux are cancelled. Replacement bus services are available. In regional services, the last connections between Lausanne or Grandvaux and Palézieux are cancelled. Replacement bus services are available.

Rail traffic is completely suspended at Puidoux from 22:00 on 3 November 2023 to 05:00 on 6 November 2023 and from 22:00 on 24 November 2023 to 05:00 on 27 November 2023. In long distance services, InterCity1 trains (Genève-Aéroport–Bern–Zürich HB–St-Gallen) are cancelled between Genève-Aéroport and Fribourg; InterRegio 15 trains (Genève-Aéroport–Lausanne–Bern–Luzern) are cancelled between Lausanne and Fribourg. Rail replacement buses run between Lausanne and Fribourg. In regional services, all trains on RER Vaud lines S5, S6 and S9 are cancelled between Grandvaux and Palézieux. Replacement bus services are available. Trains on the S7 RER Vaud line are also cancelled between Vevey and Puidoux. Replacement bus services are available.
