SBB Green Class is promoting sustainability.

People who use SBB Green Class change their mobility patterns. Studies on the two pilot projects (e-car and e-bike) showed that people who use SBB Green Class travel in a more environmentally friendly way than before.

The two pilot projects “SBB Green Class E-Car” and “SBB Green Class E-Bike” were closely monitored as part of a study with ETH Zurich. The results show that there is a demand for combined mobility and mobility patterns change when people use SBB Green Class. This means that the e-car and e-bike pilot customers combined the two means of transport differently. They reduced their carbon footprint by travelling more by public transport and using electric cars. They also eased city-centre congestion by making greater use of public transport to reach busy centres as opposed to travelling by car.
