The new SwissPass: more functions, more storage space, more security.

A new generation of SwissPass cards will gradually replace the previous cards. The new cards have technical capabilities that will enable the SwissPass to be used in new ways.

The SwissPass will remain a carrier medium for a wide range of public transport services and offers from partner companies.

How do I get my new SwissPass card?

You don’t need to take any action. New customers will receive the new SwissPass from mid-December 2021 onwards. Current card holders will automatically receive a new generation SwissPass card free of charge once their existing card expires after five years.

What is new about the SwissPass card?

The most visible difference is the fresh new design. The new cards also have improved security features and additional functions.

  • Storage space: The new cards have greater storage capacity and can store additional partner services, swisspass.ch/plus/partnerLink opens in new window..
  • Door opener: The new SwissPass can be used as an access or identification medium by companies that use the security systems of the Swiss firm Legic.
  • Secure online login: SwissPass supports the Fast Identity Online standard, or FIDO for short. This authentication standard is used globally to simplify the login process for devices and web services (e.g. Facebook, Google, Microsoft Office 365, etc.).

What happens with partner services stored on my card when I switch to the new card?

Most existing services will not be transferred from partner services to the new card. Please contact the respective partner service to find out how to transfer your services.
