Fixed prices for children on cross-border journeys with TGV Lyria.

Under 4 years.

• Your child travels free of charge without their own seat.
• Your child travels in their own seat at a very low flat rate with the “Baby Pass” fare. 

4 to under 16 years old.

• Children and young people under 16 years old pay only CHF 39 (2nd class) or CHF 49 (1st class) for a single journey on TGV Lyria trains from Switzerland to France and vice versa. Children and young people who do so must have a Children’s Co-Travelcard or a Junior Travelcard and be accompanied by a passenger aged 16 or over. The companion can take up to four children or young people with them on the TGV Lyria journey at the fixed low price. 
• Children without a discount card between 4 and under 12 years old travel at a reduced fare, subject to availability.
• Children between 4 and under 6 years old do not need a Children’s Co-Travelcard or a Junior Travelcard to benefit from fixed prices for children.
• The fixed price for children is valid for the whole year.

Within France.

In TGV and in Intercités:

• 0 to under 4 years old: your child travels without their own seat free of charge.
• 0 to under 4 years old: if you would like to book a seat for your child, they must travel on the ‘Baby Pass’ or ‘Forfait Bambin’ fare at a fixed low price. On night trains, you pay a surcharge for the couchette berth for the child.
• 4 to under 12 years old: children travel at half the fare price of an adult, subject to availability.

In regional trains:

• 0 to under 4 years old: children travel free of charge without their own seat.
• 4 to under 12 years old: children can generally travel on a discounted ticket. 

Cross-border travel.

Children and young people pay nothing for a journey on the EuroCity between Switzerland and Italy on Swiss sections and 50% of the adult fare on the Italian section. The offer is valid for children and young people up to the age of 15.99 with a Junior Card or Children's Travelcard when accompanied by an adult aged 16 or over. Up to four children and young people per adult companion can travel at the reduced price.

The price is valid all year round per person for a single journey on EuroCity trains from Switzerland to Italy and vice versa.

Within Italy.

Frecce, Intercity and Intercity Notte.

• 0–under 4 years: children travel free of charge (without their own seat).
• 4–under 15 years: children receive a reduction of 50%.

Regional trains.

• 0–under 4 years: children travel free of charge.
• 4–under 12 years: children receive a reduction of 50%.

Day trains.

• Children under 14.99 years travel free of charge accompanied by a person from 16 years holding a valid ticket. There is a charge for seat reservations.
• Children under 14.99 years travelling alone only pay half.

Night trains.

• Children under 15 years pay a reduced fare.
• Children under 6 years old travel free of charge without their own bed.

Day trains.

• Children under 15 years travel free of charge accompanied by a person from 16 years holding a valid ticket. There is a charge for seat reservations. 
• Children under 15 years travelling alone only pay half.

Night trains.

• Children under 15 years pay a reduced fare.
• Children under 6 years old travel free of charge without their own bed.

• Children up to 4 years travel free of charge and do not require an Interrail pass. However, you may be required to sit your child under 4 years on your lap during peak travel times.
• Children between 4 and under 12 years travel free of charge with a Child Pass. A child must be accompanied by at least one person with an Adult Pass at all times, and a maximum of two children may travel with each person. The adult does not have to be a family member; it can be any person under 18 years.
