International tickets: Austria.
Whether you are travelling to Austria with a low-cost supersaver ticket or at the standard tariff, whether you require tickets for the night trains or car trains: we are sure to have the right one for you. On this page, you will find a summary of the various tariffs and types of ticket for the different trains.
Standard tariffs
If you are travelling to Austria during the day, you purchase tickets at the standard rate. You pay a distance-related price (plus a supplement for the railjet journey if you are travelling in Business Class.) We also recommend that you reserve your seat, and you may purchase the reservation separately. There are tickets for the standard tariff for 1st and 2nd class, and for single and return journeys. You also have a free choice of trains.
Supersaver tickets
With a European supersaver ticket, you can travel to Austria from most stations in Switzerland and in the reverse direction. Supersaver tickets are always issued for a single journey only (if you would like a return ticket, purchase a separate supersaver ticket for the return journey). We also recommend that you reserve your seat, and you can purchase the reservation separately. With a supersaver ticket, you may only board the selected train and if you do not travel on that train, it becomes invalid. You can purchase supersaver tickets for 1st and 2nd class but there are limited numbers.

Night trains
At night you travel with the EuroNight “Wiener Walzer” to Linz and Vienna or in the EuroNight “Zürichsee” to Villach or to Graz. For the journey you will be issued a so-called global price ticket, and the seat reservation, supplement for the place in the sleeping car, couchette or seating car as well as the fare are included in this. This ticket is valid exclusively for the train and on the day for which it was issued. The period of validity cannot be extended. These global price tickets are issued at the market price, i.e. the prices are higher or lower depending on the season and day of departure.
Car trains
The fares are calculated separately for passengers and vehicles on the car train. The date of travel is crucial for calculating the price.
For vehicles, the prices are divided into two price categories (high season and standard tariff): car/trailer and motorbikes.
For adults, the flat-rate fare includes the price for the route and seat reservation. For children up to 15 years, you can book individual seats at a reduced price (50%). If they do not require their own seat, children under 6 years travel free of charge when accompanied by a paying adult. A maximum of 1 adult and 1 child under 6 years may share a couchette berth.
