With a group ticket, groups of 10 or more can take advantage of a 30% discount on their journey by public transport in Switzerland. Ideal for group travel for companies, clubs, private individuals and schools.
Group tickets are available for 1st and 2nd class, for single and return journeys, and at full price or the Half Fare Travelcard price.
- The full price applies to adults aged over 25 without a Half Fare Travelcard or Half Fare Card.
- The Half Fare Travelcard price applies for children and young people aged at least 6 and under 25 and to passengers with a Half Fare Travelcard or a Half Fare Card.
Children under 6 travel free of charge but they are counted in the group size.
Group tickets bought online are valid on the calendar day specified at the time of purchasing.
The period of validity starts at midnight and ends at 5 am the following day. If a ticket is valid for several days, the period of validity ends at 5am on the day following the last day of validity.
If you do not complete your journey on the same day or by 5am the following day, please purchase a single ticket for each corresponding route.
Warning: In fare networks, group tickets have a restricted period of validity.
Group tickets purchased at a point of sale or from the SBB Contact Center 0848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min.) for a single journey are valid for 10 days; for a return journey, the validity period is 1 month.
If you would like to buy your group ticket online, you may not be able to see a fare or purchase tickets for your journey. (The ‘purchase’ button may be crossed out). This may be because the transport companies involved cannot provide sufficient capacity or an initial check has to be carried out to identify whether sufficient capacity can be provided for the group (e.g. by adding an extra coach or a larger / additional bus etc.). In this case, we can provide assistance at the counter or via the SBB Contact Center on 0848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min.).
To benefit from the group discount, you must purchase the group ticket at least two working days before departure. For example, if you want to travel on a Sunday, you must complete your purchase by Wednesday evening.
This applies when you buy online, as well as when you buy from a staffed point of sale or via the SBB Contact Center.
The maximum advance purchase period is two months before the date you want to travel.
For journeys with groups of 10 or more, registration is mandatory, so we can request and prepare sufficient space and reserve your seats. This also applies if all passengers in your group have a GA Travelcard.
If you buy your group ticket in good time, registration occurs automatically. If possible, seat reservations will be assigned and these will be included in the price of the group ticket.
If you buy your group ticket online, your seats reservations will be made automatically.
