TNW combines the six most important transport companies in the Northwestern Switzerland region (the cantons of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft, Fricktal, Schwarzbubenland and the local authority, Ederswiler JU). One simple tariff system applies across the entire TNW network area. Whether your journey is urban or rural, there is only one ticket you need.

The zone system applies to all tickets across the TNW fare network. The zone map shows you how many adjoining zones (areas) you need to purchase to get from A to B. Whether you travel by train, bus or tram – within the zones covered and the period of validity, all public transport services are included within the fare.
The Junior Travelcard and the Children’s Co-Travelcard – the family discounts of the Swiss transport companies – are also valid within the TNW.
If you have a Half Fare Travelcard, you benefit from reduced prices on all single, group or multiple-journey tickets and Day Passes.
The TNW nighttime network will bring you home safely and comfortably at night by public transport at weekends, during Fasnacht (carnival), from 31 July to 1 August and on New Year’s Eve.
With your TNW ticket, you can take advantage of up to 50% off numerous leisure time activities.
TNW tickets and travelcards can be purchased online at SBB.ch and in the SBB Mobile / Preview app, as well as from ticket machines and staffed points of sale within the fare network area.
U-Abo travelcards can be purchased online at SBB.ch and at points of sale in the fare network area. They will be integrated onto the SwissPass.

- If you would like to travel beyond the limits of your TNW ticket, you will need a zone upgrade. This will be needed from the last timetabled stop within your TNW ticket to the final stop of your journey.
- If your train does not stop in the TNW zones you purchased, your TNW ticket is not valid. Please buy a standard-price ticket instead (or a Supersaver Ticket).
