This page will tell you what Regional Travelcards are available, how you buy them, whether you need a SwissPass, how you renew Regional Travelcards and much more besides.
Offer.
Regional Travelcards are available for
7 days (in paper form, only available on some fare networks).
1 month on the SwissPass.
12 months on the SwissPass.
If you buy your Regional Travelcard for 12 months, you will receive a reduction of up to 3 months on the monthly price.
Children and young people under 25 benefit from attractive discounts.
Further discounts available depend on the fare network.
If the whole of your chosen route lies within one fare network, you will automatically receive a Regional Travelcard.
Point-to-Point Travelcards are only available in regions without a fare network or, when you are travelling beyond the limits of one fare network.
If you regularly travel between fare networks or outside a fare network and would like to use local transport, the Modular Travelcard is an ideal solution.
It is worth noting that purchasing a GA Travelcard is the best option beyond a certain distance.
Purchases and renewals.
First-time purchasing online (only for 1 month and 12 months).
When purchasing online, the most important thing is your customer number in the format 000-000-000-0. If you have or had a SwissPass or a public transport travelcard in the last five years, you can find this number on your SwissPass card and use it to purchase your Regional Travelcard online.
If you used to have a travelcard but have forgotten the customer number, you can find out what it is by going to a public transport point of sale or phoning the SBB Contact Center on 0848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min.).
To make sure you receive the right offer for adults, young people or children when purchasing online, please enter the relevant customer number.
You may also want to know: if you wish to buy the Regional Travelcard for another person (f. ex. a child), you can do so, as long as you and the other person hold SwissPass cards with a linked SwissPass login. To buy for the other person, select Purchase a travelcard for another person during the purchasing process.
Note: a SwissPass login is linked with SBB.ch if the customer number is stored in your profile on SBB.ch. After signing in, click on your initials, then on Profile and then on Update details in the Personal details tile. If the customer number is displayed in the form 000-000-000-0, it means it is linked.

Children and young people under 25 will only have to do so if their previous photo was taken more than five years ago.
If you are purchasing a Regional Travelcard for the first time, do not already have a SwissPass and have not previously had a travelcard, you can upload your digital passport photo once the purchasing process (including the identity check) is complete.
If you would like a new photo before the time limit has been reached (ten years for those aged 25 or older, five years for under 25s), please visit a staffed public transport point of sale. The new photo will be taken directly on site. You can then get a new SwissPass card with the new photo for a fee of CHF 30.

Hello everyone, I would very much appreciate some advice on how to travel by public transport from Zurich airport to Friedrichshafen in Germany. Our plane is due in to Zurich at 14:20 so I would like to know what kind of ticket I can buy that is the cheapest for our family, which is two adults, two 13 year olds and one 15 year old. I am concerned that we don’t know exactly how long it will take to get from the airport to the train and that there is a possibility of delays, so are the tickets flexible? We will need to get back to the airport for our return 8 days later for a flight at 19:15, but we would be happy to arrive earlier in the day. Many thanks in advance!
Look up train times on www.sbb.ch The easiest way to do this is take the train from Zurich Airport to Romanshorn, and then take the ferry across lake Constance. This route has several advantages… Only one change. The transfer from the train to the ferry involves a short walk, but this is only about 160m, so should not be an issue. The Swiss tariff applies for the ferry too. So you can buy then: A normal point to point ticket Zurich AirPort - Friedrichshafen Hafen for the adults. Costs 41.80 pp A junior card for each child at 30,- per child. The Junior card gives free travel for children for a whole year, so covers both outward and return trip. You can buy this in advance online, or just when you arrive at the airport. The trains run every hours, and the ferries connect with the trains.
Domodossola (I) - Milano Centrale (REG 2443) railway construction issue
Hello, I purchased a journey for two people on June 22, 2026. One segment, Domodossola (I) - Milano Centrale (REG 2443), seems to be affected by railway construction. What should I do to ensure that my travel plan will not be affected and that I can arrive in Milan as planned? Thank you. Link opens in new window.Link opens in new window.
Hello > Joorriebi13Link opens in new window. I have heard that there might be a replacement bus (EV), but I am not sure whether it will actually be available at that time, so I feel quite uncertain. A replacement bus will leave Domodossola at 20:30, but your ticket is for a regional train and therefore not valid on this EC bus. I suggest to contact the SBB to make an exchange. See options at this bottom of this page: https://www.sbb.ch/en/help-and-contact.html Kind regards Danhiel
Short connection at Domodossola – what happens if miss the train?
Hello everyone, I have an international ticket from Milano Porta Garibaldi to Zermatt via Domodossola. At the time of booking, the itinerary showed arrival in Domodossola at 09:53 and departure of the connecting train at 09:58 (5‑minute connection). The current schedule (Trenitalia app) now shows arrival at 09:57, leaving only 1 minute to change trains. Questions: If the first train arrives late and I miss the 09:58 connection, is this connection protected? Will I be allowed to take the next available train to Zermatt without extra cost? Has anyone experienced a similar situation on this route? Thanks in advance for your help.
What date is this? Hiegarru72Link opens in new window. If the first train arrives late and I miss the 09:58 connection, is this connection protected? It may be that the next trains waits. But that is not guaranteed. Will I be allowed to take the next available train to Zermatt without extra cost? Of course. Just take the next train. For us this is self evident, so maybe that is why this is not always spelled out. Has anyone experienced a similar situation on this route? Not on this particular route. But my experience is that the Swiss Railways indeed respect the law in these situations. I also suspect (given the routing) that you in fact have tickets that are flexible anyway. By default tickets are for a route, not a train.
