The SBB Community is an online platform where our customers can exchange information with each other. If a question does not get answered by the community within 24 hours, the SBB Contact Center will take over.

If you have any questions about SBB products or services, it’s worth checking with the SBB Community first. It is quite possible that your question will already have been answered in one of the more than 50,000 posts. You can also find out people’s tips and tricks in the SBB Community.

Not only does the overhauled SBB Community have a new design; it also has a new and larger selection of topic tags. The topic tags help you to quickly find the discussions relevant to you.

The community is constantly being improved and provided with new functions so that knowledge exchange within the community becomes even more effective.

You have several options:

1. Search for discussions on specific topics using keywords in the search box in the top left.
2. You can access discussions on predefined topics via the ‘Topics’ tab.
3. The topic categories are also listed under ‘Discussions’. One click will take you to the relevant discussions.

• To start a new discussion, you need to be logged in.
• Click on the ‘Start a discussion’ button on the homepage.
• This will open a text box opens in which you can enter a title and your question or contribution to the discussion. You can also add images by clicking on the ‘Upload’ icon.
• Click on ‘Choose topics’ in the upper part of the text box.
• Select one or more categories (type of post / topic / channel) and confirm your selection by clicking on ‘Choose tags’.
• Click on ‘Publish’ to start the discussion.

• You must be logged in to reply to a post.
• Open the post and click on ‘Reply’ in the lower left-hand section.
• Enter your answer in the text box. You can add images if you need to by clicking on the ‘Upload’ icon.
• Click on ‘Post reply’ to publish your reply.

The SBB Community is public. All users have access to your posts and discussions. However, your real name will not be displayed, just your username and avatar.

• To start a private discussion with another user, you must be logged in.
• Open the user profile of the desired user by clicking on the name.
• Click on the three dots, top right. A drop-down menu will appear. Select ‘Send *username* a message’.
• Write your private message in the text box. If you wish, you can also add pictures by clicking on the ‘Upload’ icon.
• N.B.: ‘2 Recipients’ is displayed in the upper part of the text box. This is as it should be. By clicking on the note, you will see that both you and the desired recipient(s) are listed.
• Click on ‘Post private discussion’ to send the private message.

• Start a discussion or write a private message as you usually would.
• Instead of clicking on ‘Publish’, select the ‘Save’ icon in the top right-hand corner of the text box.
• Click on the save icon at the top to edit your saved draft and publish it if you wish to.

• To follow a discussion, you have to be logged in.
• Open the discussion you are interested in.
• Click on the ‘Follow’ button on the right to be notified of all new replies.
• Alternatively, you can open the drop-down menu in the right-hand part of the ‘Follow’ button to customise your notification preferences.

• To follow a specific topic, you must be logged in.
• Go to the ‘Discussions’ tab.
• Select the topic of interest in the left-hand column.
• The ‘Follow’ button will appear above the topic column. Click on it to be notified of all new discussions on this topic.
• Alternatively, you can open the drop-down menu in the right-hand part of the ‘Follow’ button to customise your notification preferences.

In the ‘SBB tips’ section, much like a blog, you will find informative articles, useful tips and clever tricks, all written by SBB experts.

• To change your notification settings, you must be logged in.
• Click on your username in the top right-hand corner.
• This will open a drop-down menu from which you then select ‘Settings’.
• A list will appear, from which you can select whether you want to receive notifications by e-mail or on the website for various different scenarios. You can also deactivate all notifications.

• To change your username, you must be logged in.

• This will open a drop-down menu from which you then select ‘Settings’.
• Click on the ‘Change nickname’ button to customise your username.

• Yes, you can also log in without a SwissPass customer number.
• Click on ‘Log in’ in the upper part of the webpage.
• A new window will open. Click on ‘Register now’.
• In the next step, select ‘No customer number’.
• Enter your personal details. Form of address, first and last name and date of birth are mandatory fields. Click ‘Next’.
• Next, enter your e-mail address and set a password.
• You will receive an e-mail with an activation code. Enter this code in the registration process window, which should still be open. If you do not enter the code within 60 minutes, your account will automatically be deleted again.

• If you are using the English-language version of the SBB Community, by default you will only see the discussions which have been taking place in English. 
• In the ‘Discussions’ tab, however, you have the option of changing the language of the entries shown. This can be helpful if you have not found any suitable discussions in your preferred language.
• Click on a foreign language discussion. In addition to the ‘Reply’ and ‘Like’ buttons, you have the option of having the post translated automatically.
