Yes. With the Swiss Travel System, we provide tourists and visitors from abroad with advantageous tickets for travelling within Switzerland. The most important of these are:

• the Swiss Travel Pass (a kind of GA Travelcard) for adults and for young people up to 25 years old.
• the Swiss Half Fare Card (a kind of Half Fare Travelcard for a one-month period).
• the Swiss Family Card (a kind of Junior Travelcard) for families with children aged between 6 and 16 years old. With this card, children can travel free of charge when accompanied by at least one parent. The accompanying parent must hold a valid ticket from the Swiss Travel System product range.
• Please note: to receive the Swiss Family Card directly, add the child as a passenger under ‘Add passengers’ when you buy your ticket.

In addition to unlimited travel on trains, Postbuses and boats, the Swiss Travel Pass enables visitors and tourists from abroad to benefit from additional advantages:

• Unlimited travel on panorama trains (not including seat reservations and/or supplements).
• Unlimited use of public transport in over 90 Swiss cities.
• Free admission to over 500 museums thanks to the Swiss Museum Pass.

• A discount of up to 50% on other mountain excursions.

The Swiss Travel Pass Youth gives young persons under 25 a 30% discount on the Swiss Travel Pass. It offers the same validity.

No, Swiss Travel System offers are only valid for passengers who are resident outside of Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein.

• Children aged 6 or over and under 16 can travel free of charge with the complimentary Swiss Family Card when accompanied by at least one parent. The accompanying parent must hold a valid ticket from the Swiss Travel System product range.
• Children under 6 years old can travel free of charge when accompanied by an individual with a valid ticket.

• If you “purchase as a guest” without a login, make sure to print out your tickets afterwards.
• If you would like to store and retrieve your tickets digitally, then purchase them online with a login and download the SBB Mobile app on your smartphone/tablet to display them.

1. Set up a SwissPass login (the term ‘SwissPass’ is not related to ‘Swiss Travel Pass’ so you can ignore it).

3. Select ‘I do not have a public transport travelcard’ and enter all the required details to have your SwissPass login confirmed (e-mail address and password).
4. You can now purchase your Swiss Travel Pass or Swiss Half Fare Card online on SBB.ch. Important: make sure you are logged in when you purchase with the SwissPass login.

5. Download the free SBB Mobile app on your smartphone or tablet. The app is available for both iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.
   
6. After downloading, log in to the app using your SwissPass login. 
7. Under the ‘Tickets & SwissPass’ tile, you will see your Swiss Travel Pass or Swiss Half Fare Card.

Important: if you purchased your Swiss Travel Pass or Swiss Half Fare Card without a login or via another vendor, it cannot be displayed in the SBB Mobile app. 

Tip: if you have a Swiss Half Fare Card, you can also use the SBB Mobile app to purchase tickets for your journeys within Switzerland for half price. 

To make sure that you purchase the correct tickets at the correct prices, follow these steps:

1. Click the menu (the three horizontal bars).
2. Select ‘Settings’ and then ‘My Travelcards’.
3. Click on ‘Store travelcard manually’ and select ‘Half-Fare travelcard (1/2)’.
4. Then confirm your entry by clicking on ‘Accept’.
5. Now you will always be shown the half-price tickets that your Swiss Half Fare Card entitles you to when you search the timetable. And you can also purchase these tickets.

With the SBB FreeSurf app, SBB provides a quick and secure internet connection free of charge on all national long-distance trains. Passengers from abroad can surf the net free of charge with a Sunrise SIM card. 

We recommend the free SBB Mobile app for timetable enquiries and purchasing tickets (for example with the Swiss Half Fare Card). The app is available for both iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.

The timetables for all public transport services are stored in the app. So it includes boats, mountain railways, urban public transport, etc.
