Day 1: Zurich–Lucerne–Rigi

Against the idyllic backdrop of Lake Lucerne, Lucerne is the ideal place to start an unforgettable trip into the mountains. The journey up the Rigi – the Queen of Mountains – is an experience in itself and is included in the Swiss Travel Pass!

Travel by train to Arth-Goldau or Vitznau. From here, you can take a delightful cog railway journey right to the Rigi Kulm summit. Or start your trip on the water. If you take the boat to Weggis and then the cable car up to Rigi Kaltbad, you’ll see a fascinating Alpine world from a whole new perspective.

Day 2: Lucerne–Interlaken

From Lucerne, it takes just under two hours to reach Interlaken Ost on the panoramic train. Nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, Interlaken offers incredible views of the magnificent three peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. From Interlaken, it’s well worth taking a trip to Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen. The Swiss Travel Pass also gives you a 25% discount on the journey up to the Jungfraujoch.

Nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, Interlaken is the perfect place to embark on a trip into the mountains of the Bernese Oberland.

Day 3: Interlaken–Lake Geneva

The GoldenPass Express takes you from Interlaken to Montreux in just over three hours. The route takes you from the majestic peaks of the Bernese Oberland across the Pays-d’Enhaut before reaching Vaud’s picturesque riviera. Seat reservation is mandatory in Prestige class and also recommended in 1st and 2nd class.

Montreux’s world-famous jazz festival takes place every year in July. Music and the town’s artistic heritage can also be enjoyed outside of festival season. Take a stroll along the lakeside promenade with views of the steeply sloping French Alps and Lake Geneva.
