The A-Welle fare network consists of nine transport companies in the cantons of Aargau (excluding the district of Rheinfelden) and Solothurn (Olten–Gösgen–Gäu district). One simple tariff system applies across the entire A-Welle fare network area. Whether your journey is urban or rural, there is only one ticket you need.
The zone system applies to all tickets across the A-Welle fare network. The zone map shows you how many adjoining zones (areas) you need to purchase to get from A to B. Regardless of whether you travel by train or bus, all public transport services within the purchased zones are included in the price for the applicable validity period.
Tip: From just eight zones, your ticket or travelcard is valid in all A-Welle zones.
- If you wish to travel beyond the limits of your A-Welle ticket, you need a zone upgrade. This is required from the final timetabled stop covered by your A-Welle ticket through to the final stop of your journey.
- If you have a valid A-Welle ticket that connects to a Z-Pass ticket area, you can continue your journey using both tickets together, as long as the transport service used has a timetabled stop within one of the A-Welle zones (5xx) listed on the Z-Pass.
- If your train does not stop in the A-Welle zones you purchased, your A-Welle ticket is not valid. Please buy a ticket at the standard fare instead (or a Supersaver Ticket).
