The Canton of Geneva will cover:

• The full cost (100%) of Unireso annual travelcards for young people aged 24 and younger who reside in the canton of Geneva and are on a low income and/or in education or who reside outside of the canton of Geneva and are in education in Geneva; and
• 50% of the cost of Unireso annual travelcards for people who reside in the canton of Geneva and receive OASI or invalidity insurance benefits.

The cost coverage also applies to Léman Pass annual season tickets and Modular Travelcards that include Unireso zone 10.

Tickets are mandatory.

You must have a valid ticket or travelcard to travel by public transport, even if the costs for the travelcard are fully or partially covered.

Minors.

Minors must have their own e-mail address to order a SwissPass card and to carry out the other procedures described below.

If you have never had a public transport travelcard, you must order a free SwissPass online. Your new travelcard will be saved on your SwissPass. To place your order, you will need a valid official ID (e.g. passport or ID card), a smartphone with a camera and a recent, high-quality digital passport photo. 

Create a SwissPass account.

1. Go to swisspass.chLink opens in new window..
2. Click on ‘Register’ and then on ‘No customer number’.
3. Enter the required information as instructed.
4. Follow the instructions to validate your account.

Next, activate a SwissPass customer number.

1. At the top right of the screen, click on the icon with your initials and select ‘Customer data’. 
2. Under ‘Personal details’, click on ‘Change’.
3. Click on ‘Start identity check’ and then on ‘Continue’.
4. Check your identity as instructed.
5. Your SwissPass customer number will now be displayed below your ‘Personal details’.

Buy a travelcard.

You can now buy a travelcard using your SwissPass account and SwissPass customer number.

Receive your SwissPass.

When you buy your first travelcard, you will receive a temporary SwissPass. Your permanent SwissPass will be sent to you within 14 days of purchasing your first travelcard.

Obtain a SwissPass at a point of sale.

You can also obtain a SwissPass free of charge from a public transport point of sale. To do so, please bring a valid official ID and a recent, high-quality passport photo (on paper or digitally on your smartphone).

People under 25 years of age.

If you are under 25 and meet the conditions, you can have the costs for your Unireso travelcard covered by the Canton of Geneva. To do so, you must submit an online request for cost coverage at unireso.com/aboLink opens in new window. and upload the necessary supporting documents. Your request will be reviewed within a maximum of 10 working days. When you request cost coverage, you can choose whether to buy your travelcard from tpg or SBB. If you choose to buy your travelcard from SBB, you will receive a coupon. You can then use your coupon to buy your travelcard, either online, at an SBB Travel Centre or from an SBB ticket machine.

People who receive OASI benefits.

If you receive OASI benefits and meet the conditions, you can have your costs covered by the Canton of Geneva by presenting your latest OASI pension tax certificate or your first OASI pension decision for the current year when you buy your Unireso travelcard at an SBB Travel Centre. You do not need to submit a request for cost coverage.

You can also submit a request for cost coverage online at unireso.com/aboLink opens in new window. and upload the necessary supporting documents. Your request will be reviewed within a maximum of 10 working days. When you request your cost coverage online, you can choose to buy your travelcard from either tpg or SBB. If you choose to buy your travelcard from SBB, you will receive a coupon. You can then use your coupon to buy your travelcard, either online, at an SBB Travel Centre or from an SBB ticket machine.

People who receive invalidity insurance benefits.

If you receive invalidity insurance benefits and meet the conditions, you can have your costs covered by the Canton of Geneva by presenting proof of your benefit payments when you buy your Unireso travelcard at an SBB Travel Centre. You do not need to submit a request for cost coverage.

You can buy your Unireso travelcard or Léman Pass season ticket (including Unireso zone 10) online. Please make sure you have your SwissPass account, your SwissPass customer number and your coupon.

Please note that Modular Travelcards that include Unireso zone 10 can be purchased only at public transport points of sale.

Buy a Unireso travelcard.

1. Sign in here.
2. Enter your departure and arrival points. To make things easier, enter a departure and arrival railway station, e.g. Satigny‒Versoix or Geneva‒Chêne-Bourg. Whichever route you choose, you’ll receive a Unireso zone 10 travelcard valid for all public transport in the canton of Geneva.
3. Enter the starting date for your travelcard.
4. Under ‘via direct’, click on ‘From CHF 400.00’.
5. Under ‘Travelcard holder’, select your profile and click on ‘Continue’.
6. Accept the ‘General Terms and Conditions’ and enter your coupon under ‘Means of payment’ / ‘Coupon’.
7. Then click on ‘Buy now’.

Buy a Léman Pass season ticket.

1. Sign in here.
2. Follow the instructions to set up your season ticket. Your season ticket must include Léman Pass zone 10.
3. Follow the same steps to buy a Unireso travelcard, starting from step 5.

Buy a Unireso travelcard or Léman Pass season ticket from an SBB ticket machine.

You can also buy your Unireso travelcard or Léman Pass season ticket (including Unireso zone 10) at any SBB ticket machine. Scan the QR code on your SwissPass card to go straight to the ‘Add travelcard’ stage. Then follow the instructions to redeem your coupon under ‘Means of payment’.

You can also buy your Unireso or Léman Pass, including Unireso zone 10, at any SBB Travel Centre. Please bring your SwissPass and coupon.

The Unireso fare network is made up of a single zone covering all of canton Geneva. This single zone applies to all transport tickets. Irrespective of whether you are travelling by train, bus, tram or Mouettes ship – all types of public transport are included in the price of the Unireso zone 10 you have paid for within the period of validity.

Unireso tickets are available from SBB ticket counters, ticket machines, on SBB.ch or via SBB Mobile. The Contact Centre would be pleased to answer any questions on 0848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min).

Anywhere with the Half Fare travelcard.

If you have a Half Fare travelcard, you can benefit from discounts on single and group tickets and on day passes.

Senior citizen or receiving invalidity insurance.

If you receive OASI or full invalidity benefits, you can take advantage of discounts on single and group tickets and on day passes.

Outside the network area.

For routes which extend beyond the fare network, tickets for the fare network are valid until the last regular stop made by the train in the Unireso zone.

If you travel to other parts of Switzerland, national transport tickets apply to your journeys. The City-tickets and modular Travelcards enable passengers to combine the Unireso zone with travel to other parts of Switzerland.

If you travel in the neighbouring part of France served by the Léman Express, Léman Pass transport tickets apply to your journeys. These tickets and travelcards allow you to combine the Unireso zone with cross-border travel.
