Types of data we store and how they are used.

Data on your use of our app.

The app uses localisation technology in order to provide you with helpful and useful information:

  1. At stations and stops, the app uses GPS signals: this enables us to display the relevant timetable information for you.
  2. For specific localisation while on board the train, the app uses beacon technology, which works via Bluetooth signals. All data is processed only in the background and SBB neither stores it nor uses it for other purposes.

Data collected when you contact with us.

You can easily get in touch with us using the contact form in the app. We need the data that you provide when doing so, such as e-mail address/telephone number, to respond to your enquiry. In addition, you can voluntarily provide us with information about the device you are using or your previous enquiries so that we can better answer your request.

As far as the EU-GDPR applies, our legitimate interest and the contractual performance requirement form the legal basis for this processing of personal data.

Disclosure of your data to third parties.

Your data will not be sold by us to third parties.

Your personal data will only be passed on to selected service providers – and only to the extent necessary to provide the service. For the technical improvement of the app, performance and anonymised data about technical errors or data about customer interaction is collected and sent to a third party (Piano Software Inc).

This includes

  • IT support service providers
  • Our hosting provider

Service providers who process data on our behalf are contractually obligated to comply with the relevant data protection regulations and are not considered third parties under data protection law.

As far as the EU-GDPR applies, our legitimate interest and legal requirements form the legal basis for this processing of personal data.

Cookies.

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your mobile device when you use our app. Some cookies are necessary for the app to function, while others extend the range of functions and improve user comfort for you. You can adjust the cookie settings at any time. If you accept certain cookies, you also consent to the transfer of your data to third countries. These third countries may not have a level of data protection comparable to Switzerland. There may be a risk, for example, of your data being collected and processed by local authorities and that your rights as a data subject cannot be enforced.

We use cookies so that we can further develop the app in a targeted manner.

Data security.

We protect your personal data stored with us against manipulation, loss or unauthorised third-party access. In order to ensure continuous protection, we are constantly developing our security measures. Our data protection consultants will be happy to provide you with additional information on this. You can find contact details under ‘Contact information for questions relating to data protection’.

The transmission of data over the internet and via other electronic means always entails risks. Despite taking appropriate precautions, we can therefore not guarantee the security of any information transmitted over the Internet.

Amendments to this Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right to amend or supplement this Privacy Policy at any time at our discretion. Please consult this Privacy Policy regularly.
