Where can children quickly go to the toilet? Where can I find lifts and ramps for pushchairs and luggage? And what is helpful when boarding the train? A little bit of preparation, combined with a few tips, will help your journey get off to a good start at the station.
Parking spaces at the station.
If you choose to drive to the station and then switch to the train, there are P+Rail parking spaces available to you at around 600 stations.
For around 35 larger stations, you can consult interactive station plans to see where there are lifts and ramps for pushchairs and luggage, where the toilets are, where you can buy tickets and drop off luggage, go shopping or eat something. Parking spaces for bikes and cars are also shown.
Navigate to the desired station on the station page and click on the ‘Full screen view’ icon (circle with an arrow pointing upwards to the right) in the bottom right-hand corner of the map. Then select the desired services on the map or enter a term into the search box (e.g. toilet, waiting room, luggage, etc.) and its location will be displayed – provided it is available. All you need is some time to prepare.
At larger stations, you can also buy items from the SBB collection at counters: card games, Mondaine SBB station clocks and many other practical and attractive travel accessories. And of course you can buy all items online too.
In the online timetable and the SBB Mobile app, you can find the train formation for every train. That means you can see which sector the individual coaches will stop in. If the train has a family coach or a restaurant, you can also see that. The train formation is updated every day and the latest version is shown.

If you are waiting for your train on the platform, it is important to observe the following safety measures:
Always wait behind the six white lines, as far away from the platform as possible at all times.
Park your pushchair parallel to the track and apply the brakes.
Hold younger children’s hands and keep older children within your line of sight.
Running or riding around on like-a-bikes, scooters or skateboards is not permitted.
Should any objects fall onto or next to the tracks, leave them there.

Particularly at smaller stations, InterCity and InterRegios run through at great speed. In such instances, it is really important that you hold small children’s hands and secure pushchairs.
Ready for boarding.
To be close to the boarding area for your chosen coach, please position yourself near the relevant sector. Ideally before the train enters the station. Once the train has entered the station and the passengers alight, there is less space available and it’s easy to lose sight of where you need to go.
