The city’s most famous son, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was born in 1756 in the “Hagenauer House” in Getreidegasse 9 in Salzburg. His birthplace is now a museum and site of pilgrimage and attracts music and history enthusiasts from around the world. Hohensalzburg Fortress is enthroned on the Festungsberg, high above the rooftops of the Baroque historical district.
