The island of Giudecca.
The island of Giudecca is one of around 118 islands belonging to the lagoon city. Away from the commotion around the Grand Canal, you won’t find tourist shops, museums or famous squares here. Simply enjoy the peace and authenticity. Prepare to be surprised at the deserted squares, cosy restaurants and charming hotels and discover your very own Venice. The island is located south of Dorsoduro and San Marco and can be accessed via water bus (Vaporetto) in a matter of minutes.
Traghetto gondola ferry rides.
The nicest way to make your way around the Grand Canal in Venice is on board a Traghetto gondola ferry. Hop aboard at the Mercato di Rialto, Piazza San Marco or near the Santa Maria della Salute church and experience the busy waterways on one of the most legendary modes of transport. Daily from around 9am to 6pm.
The island of Murano.
Murano is one of the main islands in the Venetian Lagoon and is the focal point of Venetian glass production. But it’s not all glass blowing workshops – the island is also known for its small canals, beautiful bridges and ancient palaces and mansions. The journey from Venice to Murano takes just seven minutes (departing from Fondamente Nove ferry terminal).
