As of the timetable change on 14 December 2025, a number of developments are being introduced on the RER Vaud network.
Depending on the journey, it may be necessary to use a different line; in some cases, a change of train will be necessary, while in other cases a direct journey without changing trains will be possible. In general, passengers should expect changes to train departure times (a few minutes at most).
Lines R1 and R2 Grandson–Lausanne–Cully will now run to Bex(–St-Maurice).
Lines R3 Vallorbe–Bex(–St-Maurice) and R4 (Vallorbe–)/Le Brassus–Le Day–Bex(–St-Maurice) will now run to Vevey instead of Bex.
New next-generation double-deck trains will be introduced on lines R1 and R2 Grandson–Bex (–St-Maurice). These modern and comfortable trains can accommodate 732 passengers, with 466 seats and 266 standing places.
Due to the introduction of these new trains on the Lausanne–Riviera–Chablais axis, the peak-hour RE trains that previously ran between St-Maurice and Lausanne will be cancelled (dep. from St-Maurice at 06:48 and 07:08; dep. from Lausanne at 16:52 and 17:19).
Four RER Vaud trains per hour will now run between Cossonay and Vevey.
Thanks to the combination of lines R1 and R2, Roche will now be served every 30 minutes (with a few exceptions).
Lines R8 Allaman–Payerne and R9 Allaman–Murten/Morat will now be operated entirely with Flirt trains. Due to construction work at Lausanne station, trains on the R9 line will no longer stop at Prilly-Malley. Prilly-Malley will continue to be served by lines R1, R2, R3, and R4.
On the S30 line of the RER Fribourg I Freiburg, the last Yverdon-les-Bains–Payerne train (Yverdon-les-Bains–Fribourg/Freiburg on Friday and Saturday nights) will be rescheduled, now departing at 00:34 from Yverdon-les-Bains (instead of at 00:04) to allow for a final connection from Lausanne (dep. 00:04).
