SBB is testing cashless ticket machines at Fribourg and Olten stations.

In recent years, the proportion of cash used as a payment method at ticket machines has steadily declined. That’s why SBB is testing cashless ticket machines at the stations in Fribourg and Olten.

We would like to continue to offer you several options for buying tickets in the future.

During the test phase, you will still have the option of paying with cash at some machines. The machines that do not accept cash are marked with a red front. They offer you the usual range of public transport tickets, travelcards and services.

If you don’t yet have a payment card, you can easily obtain a prepaid payment card at an SBB Travel Centre or in the online shop.

Once the test has been completed in Olten and Fribourg, we will analyse the results and decide on the next steps.
