Gornji Grad (Upper Town).

The upper town, built on a hill, is called Gornji Grad and features Baroque architecture. The 13th-century town wall that encloses Gornji Grad is still clearly visible today. In this part of Zagreb you will find numerous churches such as the Church of St. Mark, the present-day Parliament building and the Lotrscak Tower, on which a cannon is fired every day at 12 o’clock.

Zagreb funicular railway.

An entertaining and utterly delightful highlight is the Zagreb Funicular - the shortest funicular railway in Europe. It connects the lower and upper town and is almost a mini version of the Zurich Polybahn funicular. Nearby is the colourful Dolac Market. The largest of the city’s 23 markets, it has been much visited by locals and tourists alike since it opened in 1930.
