The Borromean Islands are a short boat ride from Stresa. Isola Madre, the largest island, is noted for its English-style gardens, Isola dei Pescatori has a fishing village, and Napoleon is said to have spent a night on Isola Bella. You can visit all three islands on one trip.

Stresa's weekly market takes place on Friday (8 am – 1 pm). Besides regional specialities, the traditional market stalls also sell clothes, jewellery and other wares. Take a moment to enjoy the hustle and bustle of locals doing their shopping.
