SBB P+Rail GTC.
General Terms and Conditions of SBB for use of the P+Rail app, P+Rail ticket and the P+Rail facilities.
Content of the P+Rail General Terms and Conditions (hereinafter: “GTC”).
1.1 Acceptance of SBB P+Rail GTC.
Any person who enters the P+Rail facility in a vehicle shall be deemed to have accepted these GTC and undertakes to comply with them.
Some parking locations are not operated by SBB, but rather by third-party companies. The terms and conditions of use of the relevant operator must be complied with for parking locations operated by third parties.
1.2. Permissible use.
It is permissible to park vehicles within the parking spaces designated for P+Rail. SBB P+Rail facilities are available exclusively for the parking of properly registered and roadworthy light motor vehicles (up to 3,500 kg) for a maximum of 7 days, one after the other.
Any instructions issued by staff and authorised SBB officials must be complied with.
1.3 Unauthorised usage.
Any usage other than the parking of light motor vehicles (up to 3,500 kg) within the marked parking spaces is prohibited, including in particular:
- Parking any vehicles other than light motor vehicles (up to 3,500 kg).
- Parking vehicles with trailers, bicycles or motor-assisted bicycles.
- Parking vehicles while engaging in commercial activities (taxis, on-demand bus etc.) without a valid agreement to do so with SBB
- Parking of vehicles on separately (e.g. yellow) marked parking spaces without the relevant authorisation
- Camping (except on specially marked areas and with the corresponding ticket)
- Cleaning and repairing vehicles
- Topping up or draining off cooling water, fuel or oil
- Storing flammable items and materials, and waste or rubbish.
- Posting or distributing advertising materials (flyers, business cards, etc.) without the written approval of the owner of the facility
1.4 Persons with a disability.
Persons with a disability may display the disabled persons’ parking badge issued by their cantonal authority on the vehicle and are thus exempt from paying the parking fee.
1.5. Use of parking spaces with an e-charging station.
Only e-cars that are also using the charging stations may be parked in spaces with an e-charging station.
To use the facility, a valid P+Rail ticket or pass is required.
1.6 Breaches of the terms and conditions of use.
If the P+Rail facility is occupied for longer than the period of use paid for, or if the parking charge has not been paid in advance, a surcharge of CHF 50 per day or part thereof is payable.
An administrative fee of CHF 50 will be charged in the event of any other breach of the terms and conditions of use or any unauthorised use. The right to assert a claim for higher compensation for damages is reserved.
A reminder charge of CHF 20 will be charged for failure to heed the payment reminder. Upon the second demand notice, this charge increases to CHF 40.
If the invoiced amount is still not paid after the second demand notice, SBB reserves the right to demand outstanding amount through its collection department. If the collection procedure is not successful, SBB may take further legal action, including execution for debt.
SBB is entitled to enforce its claims against users and/or keepers of vehicles. For this purpose, SBB has the right to obtain information about the person who used the P+Rail facility from the keeper of the vehicle.
SBB is entitled to arrange for a vehicle to be towed away at the expense of the person who used the facility and/or the keeper of the vehicle if:
- any leaking part or other defect represents a hazard to the proper operation of or risks causing contamination to the site;
- the vehicle is not roadworthy or has been taken off the road by the police;
- a vehicle is parked in a way that contravenes the above terms and conditions of use.
1.7 Enforcement of the terms and conditions of use.
SBB or third parties mandated by it may conduct parking inspections for enforcement of the terms and conditions of use.
SBB is also entitled to issue administrative decisions to enforce the terms and conditions of use of the P+Rail facilities.
1.8 Location-specific terms and conditions of use.
For individual services and products of SBB, the terms and conditions of use displayed at the particular parking location additionally apply. For example, SBB may use cameras and software on P+Rail facilities for the automated recognition of number plates (license plate recognition). In the event of any conflict with these GTC, the special terms and conditions at the particular location shall take precedence.
1.9 Use at the user’s own risk.
Use of the P+Rail facility is at the user’s own risk. This particularly applies in wintry conditions. Users shall be liable for any personal injury, damage to property, financial loss and any other damage caused either wilfully or negligently by them or by auxiliary agents arising either directly or indirectly for SBB as a result of any breach of these GTC or other regulations or any violation of legal obligations.
SBB shall not incur any liability for losses of any type, to the extent that this is legally permissible, including liability for auxiliary agents and third parties. In particular, SBB shall not incur any liability for losses arising due to force majeure, acts of vandalism or damage caused by vehicles, theft, etc.

2.2 Area and duration of validity.
The provisions applicable to P+Rail tickets and the range of passes shall also apply for the booking of parking spaces at P+Rail facilities of SBB as well as those of third-party providers. Where a third party parking product is booked, SBB only acts as an intermediary between the customer and the site operator. A contract is concluded directly between the customer and the site operator.
The P+Rail ticket/pass affords the right to park at the specific parking facility.
Parking tickets do not need to be displayed in the car (except for parking tickets on security paper, e.g. day passes). The vehicle number plate is recorded at the time of sale and can be viewed by the inspection staff.
The correct vehicle number plate must be recorded in the system, as this is the only way to ensure that proper checks can be carried out. All the digits of the vehicle number plate must be recorded, including letters and without blank spaces. Information such as “red Fiat” or “car in parking space 5” cannot be processed. If the vehicle number plate is not recorded correctly, the customer shall be liable to pay a surcharge of CHF 50 in the event of an inspection.
When placing a binding order for a ticket or pass via one of the sales channels, customers declare that they agree to these GTC.
2.3 P+Rail hourly tickets and 24h passes.
2.3.1 Concept, types and validity.
The following hourly tickets and 24h passes are issued
- P+Rail hourly ticket via the P+Rail app or a local parking meter
- P+Rail 24h pass via the P+Rail app, webshop, Travel Centre, ticket machine or local parking meter
2.3.2 Preconditions for purchase.
P+Rail hourly tickets and 24h passes can be purchased by all customers. A valid travel ticket is not required in order to purchase a P+Rail 24h pass. Holders of public transport tickets do not receive any discount.
2.4 P+Rail Monthly and Annual Pass parking.
2.4.1 Concept, types and validity.
The following P+Rail passes are issued:
- P+Rail Monthly Pass parking
- P+Rail Annual Pass parking
Annual and monthly passes are sold at the ticket counter, in the webshop or via the SBB Contact Center.
The first day of validity of a pass can be freely chosen (flexible dates). Passes can be purchased up to two months in advance.
2.4.2 Preconditions for purchase.
The P+Rail pass is issued on the SwissPass. The pass is not automatically renewed. Customers must hold a personal SwissPass card in order to purchase a pass.
P+Rail passes are issued exclusively to customers with a valid, personal GA Travelcard, FVP GA Travelcard, Point-to-Point Travelcard, Modular Travelcard, Regional Travelcard, FlexiAbo or Half Fare Travelcard PLUS. A valid personal annual public transport travelcard is required in order to purchase a P+Rail Annual Pass. A valid personal monthly public transport travelcard is sufficient in order to purchase a P+Rail Monthly Pass. A Half Fare Travelcard does not entitle the holder to purchase a P+Rail Monthly or Annual Pass. The public transport travelcard must be valid on the first day of validity of the P+Rail pass.
Eligibility is actively checked by inspection of a valid route, module, network or GA travelcard.
Only one P+Rail pass can be purchased for each public transport travelcard.
After the SwissPass login details have been entered, the webshop checks whether a valid travelcard is held. If a travelcard is held but is not visible on the SwissPass (for example: GA-FVP), it is not possible to conclude a sale via the webshop. In such cases, a sale may be concluded at a public transport sales counter.
P+Rail passes may be subject to a quota. Sales are only possible subject to the applicable quota.
P+Rail passes are only valid for one location at any given time.
2.4.3 Recording of vehicle number plates.
Two vehicle number plates may be registered for each P+Rail pass. However, only one car may be parked using the P+Rail pass at any given time.
It is not possible to change the vehicle number plate during the validity period.
If it is necessary to change the vehicle number plates recorded, the pass must be refunded on a pro rata basis and a new pass must be issued from the date of the refund. This will result in a corresponding extension of the existing pass. Alternatively, monthly passes or a monthly pass can be purchased instead of a new annual pass. In this case, it cannot be guaranteed that passes will be available.
2.5 Exchanges and refunds.
You are not entitled to a refund if no space is available. No claims for damages or loss of profit due to a fully occupied P+Rail facility will be accepted.
2.5.1 P+Rail app tickets and parking meter tickets.
As a general rule, P+Rail app tickets and parking meter tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged.
A refund is only possible if it is possible to prove that the ticket has not been used.

- If the customer is unable to travel, subject to presentation of a doctor’s certificate
- The purchase of multiple tickets (travel date, location and passenger – full name and vehicle number plate – are identical)
