Whether you like little green oases, parks stretching far and wide, rivers or lakes: go on tours and days out in Berlin’s diverse natural spaces. A few tips for your trip:

• Water tower at Kollwitzplatz in the south of Prenzlauer Berg: small park with lots of benches, a playground and the oldest surviving water tower in Berlin. And you’re just a stone’s throw away from the neighbourhood museum and the popular market at Kollwitzplatz.
• Tegeler See: what about a trip to the second-largest lake in the north of Berlin? Enjoy a trip on a steam boat and discover the seven idyllic islands in the lake.
• Treptower Park, right next to the Spree in the Alt-Treptow neighbourhood in the Treptow-Köpenick district. The special mixture of fluvial landscapes, huge meadows, quiet little corners and lively food and drink outlets make Treptower Park an attractive place for a trip out close to the city centre.

Berlin’s districts.

Explore a different side of Berlin away from the Brandenburg Gate and Kurfürstendamm: go to the 12 districts and see the city from a new perspective. A few tips:

• Central Berlin: Mitte, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Neukölln und Charlottenburg-Willmersdorf. Neukölln, for example, has a multicultural flair and you can literally feast your way around the world. Discover vegetarian burritos, Basque delicacies, Italian specialities, American burgers, Arabic bakeries and Vietnamese snack bars, as well as high-end cuisine.
• In the west of Berlin: Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Spandau, Reinickendorf, Tempelhof-Schöneberg. On Tempelhofer Feld, the runway area of a former airport, you can now relax, skate, fly kites, go cycling or just enjoy a cosy picnic. Do take time for yourself and enjoy some relaxing moments in this neighbourhood.
• The east of Berlin: Pankow, Lichtenberg, Marzahn-Hellersdorf, Treptow-Köpenick. Pankow is known first and foremost for Prenzlauer Berg, where you can watch the lively people of this neighbourhood in countless cafés and restaurants around Helmhotzplatz and Kollwitzplatz.
