Standard price national tickets are always valid for a whole day for the route purchased. They are therefore not train specific. You only need to get them refunded if you are going to travel on a different day.
Standard price tickets purchased while logged in to SBB.ch can be refunded or exchanged independently and free of charge up until the day of validity.
Important: A refund AFTER the start of validity is only possible if proof of non-use can be provided. A fee of CHF 10 will be retained for each claim (in line with T600.9, section 1.4Link opens in new window.) (in German, French and Italian only)
National saver offers (supersaver tickets, Saver Day Passes, Supersaver Class Upgrades) purchased while logged in to SBB.ch can be refunded or exchanged independently and free of charge within 30 minutes of the purchase time.
National Supersaver Flex Tickets purchased while logged in to SBB.ch can be refunded or exchanged independently and free of charge within 30 minutes of the time of purchase and then 50% refunded before departure.
Purchase as a guest.

Standard price tickets purchased as a guest on SBB.ch can be refunded for a deductible of CHF 10 up until the day of validity using the refund form, but not on the day of validity itself.
National saver offers (supersaver tickets, Saver Day Passes, Supersaver Class Upgrades) which you purchase on SBB.ch as a guest cannot be refunded.
National Supersaver Flex Tickets which you purchase on SBB.ch as a guest can be 50% refunded with no deductible up until the time of departure using the refund form.
Group tickets (for groups of 10 or more).
Group tickets purchased on SBB.ch when logged in can be refunded before departure or partially refunded after the journey (if there was a change in the number of participants).
Refunds before departure (cancellation).
- Reason: The group journey is not taking place.
- Please call the SBB Contact Center on 0848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min.) or visit your Travel Centre no later than 11am on the day before your journey.
- A deductible of CHF 10 is charged per refund application if no re-booking is made.
With the request for cancellation of the group journey, all seat reservations on the trains booked made at the same time as this online ticket purchase will be cancelled. Please note the special provisions for RailAway or other partner offers.
Partial refund after the journey (if there was a change in the number of participants).
- Reason: Not all registered persons travelled on the group journey.
- The change in the number of participants must be confirmed in writing on the additional receipt by the train crew.
- Please contact your Travel Center after your journey.
- A deductible of CHF 10 is charged per refund application.
