You can transport your folding bicycle free of charge on public transport if you fold it up before boarding and only unfold it after getting off.

Folding bikes are bikes that can be folded up using a joint on the frame. The handlebars can also be folded down and the seat tube pushed together. 

You may stow your folding bike on board like normal hand luggage. In many trains, the space under or between the seats is particularly suitable for this purpose. Folding bikes can also be stored on platforms, in standing areas and in the luggage rack. 

Packaging is not necessary. However, please ensure that your folding bike does not create a mess where it is stored.

You can transport your bicycle in a carrier bag for free provided it fits completely into the bag with the front wheel removed and only the seat protruding. The handlebars must be positioned horizontally in order to save space.

A carrier bag is made of robust material, has at least one carrying handle or a shoulder strap, can be closed with a zipper and has enough space for the dismantled front wheel in an inside pocket. Other bags, cloths or covers are not acceptable.

You can place the carrier bag containing your bike in the luggage racks; there is also often space under the seats. You may also place the carrier bag containing your bike on the platforms in the boarding areas as long as boarding and alighting is not hindered. Access to the driver’s cab must remain unobstructed. 

In the event of high passenger volumes, the train or driving crew may not allow you to board with your carrier bag if passageways are blocked and safe travel is no longer guaranteed for all travellers as a result.

A detachable bicycle trailer is considered hand luggage and can be transported free of charge.

When storing your bicycle trailer, please ensure that it can be easily folded up and stowed in the luggage rack or under the seats if space is limited.

The boarding doors of most public transport vehicles are at least 80cm wide. Older vehicles with narrower doors run on some routes. Some of the passage doors within the coaches are only 70cm wide. It may therefore be necessary to remove one or both wheels on wider trailers in order to stow the trailer properly in the vehicle.

Scooters with or without electric drive may be transported free of charge if the largest wheel has a diameter of less than 12 inches (30.5cm). 

If space permits, you do not need to fold your scooter for travel. If space is tight, please fold your scooter and stow it under the seats, in a nook or on the luggage rack.

If one of the wheels of your scooter has a diameter of 12 inches or more, your scooter is considered a normal bicycle and requires a ticket and potentially a bike reservation.
