Bicycles as free hand luggage.
A folded bike, a dismantled bike in a carrier bag and other cycling equipment are considered hand luggage on public transport under certain circumstances and can be transported free of charge.
The most important prerequisite is that there is sufficient storage space in the vehicle and that passages and doors remain free.
Prerequisites.
Limited space.
The carriage of bicycles and similar equipment as hand luggage cannot be guaranteed if space is limited. If it cannot be stored safely and properly, the train or driving crew may not allow you to board with it. For safety reasons, staff instructions must be followed.
As a general rule, bicycles and similar equipment brought on board as hand luggage must be stowed in designated areas. The marked areas for prams, wheelchairs and bicycles are reserved for these specific types of customers and must be given over to them if required. People with wheelchairs and prams generally have priority on Postbuses.
