The Prepaid Card for public transport is prepaid credit that you or the recipient can redeem for public transport services in Switzerland. Prepaid Cards for public transport are available as physical cards. 

The value can range from CHF 10 to CHF 3,000. The minimum purchase amount is CHF 10 and the maximum is CHF 3,000. When topping up, the balance must not exceed CHF 3,000. Top-ups are possible from CHF -.10 (10 centimes).

You can buy Prepaid Cards for public transport at staffed points of sale for the participating transport companies. You can also order the card from sbb.ch/en/prepaid-card (minimum amount: CHF 10).

The credit expires five years after the last use, i.e. after the last top-up or debit of the Prepaid Card. Important: Authorisation requests/balance enquiries do not count as use of the card.

You can use Prepaid Cards for public transport to pay for public transport services: to buy tickets, saver offers, travelcards and RailAway offers (the latter only at staffed points of sale for the participating transport companies), and to make payments in SBB dining cars and SBB Bistros.

Yes. You can redeem the Prepaid Card in various online shops and apps. Make the payment as you would with a normal payment card by entering the card number and CVC code. Please note that the Prepaid Card balance must cover the total amount to be paid in the shopping basket. If this is not the case, top up the Prepaid Card accordingly.

You can only use one Prepaid Card per payment transaction online or at a ticket machine. However, you can top up the Prepaid Card and load the smaller amounts onto a single Prepaid Card.

You can top up your Prepaid Card up to a balance of CHF 3,000 online or at a staffed point of sale of participating transport companies. To do so, you can use all payment methods that are recognised by SBB or the relevant transport company. However, you can only use cash at staffed points of sale.

You can also use additional Prepaid Cards for topping up, as multiple Prepaid Cards with smaller amounts can be combined onto a single card.
