Refund request for a GA Travelcard or Half Fare Travelcard due to accident or illness.

Did you have an accident or become ill and were/are unable to use your GA Travelcard or Half Fare Travelcard? If so, you can submit a refund request. Simply fill out the form to do so.

Tip: If you have a GA Travelcard, you can deposit it for a minimum of 5 days and a maximum of 30 days per travelcard year while you are unable to travel.

How to deposit a GA Travelcard

Before you start:

  • You must be unable to travel for a minimum of five days; there is no upper limit to the length of travel incapacity.
  • You need a medical certificate that confirms your incapacity to travel (being unable to work is not enough).

Short-term incapacity to travel between 5 and 29 days.

  • Reimbursement can only be made after the end of the period of incapacity to travel.
  • You must submit the application for reimbursement no later than 30 days after the end of your travel incapacity period (e.g. if you were unable to travel from 1 to 15 June, you must submit the application for reimbursement by 14 July at the latest).
  • The medical certificate must be issued on or after the last day of the incapacity to travel period.
  • The refund is made pro rata (minus a deductible of CHF 10) to the SwissPass account and will be credited to the next invoice.

Long-term incapacity to travel of 30 days and over.

  • You must submit the application for reimbursement no later than 1 year after the start of your incapacity to travel period.
  • The medical certificate must not be older than one month at the time of the reimbursement request (e.g. unable to travel from 5 June until further notice. Refund request on 4 September. The medical certificate must not be dated before 3 August).
  • The contract is cancelled as of the day before you were unable to travel. The refund is made pro rata (minus a deductible of CHF 10) and will be paid out to the IBAN account of the contracting party.
