New IR duplex: what's tried and tested and what's new.

The first of the 60 new double-decker Interregio trains will be in service from 17 July 2023. SBB is thus offering passengers greater comfort. These trains will operate in the Zurich/Swiss Plateau region and in French-speaking Switzerland.

Operation routes.

The 2D detailed map of Switzerland shows the operation routes for the new Interregional double-deck train. The new Interregional double-deck train (New IR double-decker) currently operates between Zurich HB and Schaffhausen and from 2024 additionally on the routes Bern – Zurich HB - Chur and Basel SBB - Zurich Airport. After the delivery of further vehicles, the use expands to additional routes in Switzerland.
