Flirt Evo.

The Flirt Evo is an advanced development of the tried and tested Flirt train and will be deployed in regional traffic.

SBB is procuring a total of 329 trains together with the group companies Thurbo and RegionAlps. These will gradually enter service from 2026. They have been approved for service in Switzerland, Germany, Austria and France.

The SBB is procuring 198 trains to replace its first-generation Domino and Flirt trains. Thurbo will be receiving 107 trains and RegionAlps 24. The trains will be procured in two different lengths:

  • 73.5m long four-coach units with 146 seats
  • 57.8m long three-coach units with 134 seats

All trains have generous multi-purpose zones for bicycles, prams and luggage; good mobile communications reception; sockets in all compartments, and a bright, friendly interior. Every train has two wheelchair spaces – one of them in 1st class – and a wheelchair-accessible toilet. Improved motorisation helps to increase punctuality and the new air-conditioning units are equipped with environmentally friendly coolant.
