LD double-decker.

The long-distance double-deck trains connect Switzerland’s regions. With a total of 62 trains, the LD double-deckers are the largest train fleet in SBB's long-distance services, providing flexibility in adapting to varying passenger numbers.

Our long-distance double-deck trains are designed to carry large numbers of passengers, providing up to 1300 seats in peak periods on trains 400 metres in length. That is around 10% more seats than on the previous longest double-deck compositions. During off-peak periods, trains can be easily divided, thus helping to avoid unnecessary empty running while saving both energy and costs.
